ChrisZ Posted April 30, 2009 Share #13 Posted April 30, 2009 Welcome from a neighbor to Germany, there are members in Germany, if you are lucky and close to one of them, you might be able to stimulate your abstinence:classic:The Z looks good, more pics.Chris Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/31705-new-73-240z-questionand-hello/?page=2#findComment-282270 Share on other sites
beandip Posted April 30, 2009 Share #14 Posted April 30, 2009 Squeeks, great to have you aboard. Unleaded in your Z is just fine. My old '73 L-24 had around 200K on it when I replaced it with a ZX motor. It spent much of it's life on unleaded fuel , no problem. Bigger concern is the oil we are forced to use. But that is a whole different issue. Your Z is looking great congrats. I like you had to wait years for a 240. My self it was 28 years. There are several Zdrivers in Colorado. By the way THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE! Stay safe. =Enigma= Posted May 1, 2009 Share #15 Posted May 1, 2009 Congrats on your new project Russ. Hopefully, you won't have to deal with any rust but if you do, there are replacement parts for many areas that are frequently and issue, except perhaps the battery area and the T/C box. Those can be a real bitch if they're a problem. Hopefully the 10% still to be finished isn;t in these areas. But like you said, she will get whatever she needs. One recommendation we often share is to enjoy her for a while before diggin in for any major work. Many people like myself tear right into things before taking the time to "enjoy the ride", and other responsiblities get in the way and the car ends up on jack stands for years.......I'm near to the end of that but it's been a long time since I drove my baby. Carl Beck Posted May 1, 2009 Share #17 Posted May 1, 2009 Looks like the previous owner refreshed it a bit - and changed the color from the original Metallic Brown to White. Nonetheless, looks like a pretty clean Z...Personally, I've always liked the Metallic Brown... if I refreshed it I would have to put it back to its original color. Although I like my White 240-Z very much...BTW - I feel your pain. A couple weeks after I took delivery of my Metallic Blue 72 240-Z, I was sent overseas, and the car had to sit in a hanger at the base.... Couldn't wait to get back home...FWIW,Carl B. Squeeks Posted May 1, 2009 Author Share #18 Posted May 1, 2009 Yeah, the first '73 I bought in '87 was the brown and had a purple pinstripe down the sides. The bumper was different on the back, it didn't have the raised rail. It also had black louvers on the back window and an electric radio antenna. All in all though, I am stoked. MikeW Posted May 1, 2009 Share #19 Posted May 1, 2009 The bumper was different on the back, it didn't have the raised rail. That was an aftermarket addition. My car had those front and back when I bought it.I don't see anything too alarming in the rest of the pictures you posted. My biggest concern is the damaged heater control panel. Those are becoming harder to find but may actually be easier for a '73. The car appears to have aftermarket air conditioning but I only see the console switch, not the A/C components themselves. DougN Posted May 1, 2009 Share #20 Posted May 1, 2009 Welcome and congrats on your new Z! Looks like a solid car, and the 10% was some interior work. Looks like you've got a dash cap (not really an issue) and will definately need a heater control panel. Note that the '73 panel is different from any other year, as it is lighted wheras the others are not You can usually find them on eBay fairly regularly. Cheers, Doug Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/31705-new-73-240z-questionand-hello/?page=2#findComment-282342 Share on other sites
