hls30.com Posted August 10, 2009 Share #13 Posted August 10, 2009 Chris,You know me, I'd travel anyway, but I think inviting the population to the car show would get more mileage from the event and continually add to the group! I know they aren't the same, but my point is, in terms of only the car show timing, and the specific mission of the ZCCA I mentioned, they should be. Think about it, we have the most powerfully and passionately infected group of Z enthusiasts/owners in the USA(and many further out) in one place and we aren't allowing them to infect others with Zitus! That impressive group would certianly be grounds for a very strong and memorable initiation into the world of Z.I guess when you really get down to it, I would have gotten involved at least 10 years before I did if I had known, and I just hate to think that a such a simple change made to the scheduling of the car show could enable more people to get so much enjoyment and no one has been willing to make the change...Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/31730-2009-international-z-convention-san-antonio-tx/?page=2#findComment-291520 Share on other sites
TomoHawk Posted August 10, 2009 Share #14 Posted August 10, 2009 IMO, if you wanted to have a car show on a weekend, and allow convention attendees to travel on the weekends, you'd need to have THREE weekends and the two work-weeks included. That means people would have to take off two weeks of vacation time (which is all most people get) so I don't think Z people would want to use up ALL their annual vacation time on one thing. So the convention schedule developed into what there is now. sblake01 Posted August 10, 2009 Share #15 Posted August 10, 2009 Er, I guess.... Let's see, a weekend to get there, a week of convention activities, a weekend for the car show, another week of convention activities, followed by a weekend to get home...I don't know. I got 5 weeks paid vacation for the last 7 1/2 years I worked. TomoHawk Posted August 10, 2009 Share #16 Posted August 10, 2009 For some people, like the west-coasters, it would probably take the whole weekend to get to someplace like FL or TX. sblake01 Posted August 10, 2009 Share #17 Posted August 10, 2009 Florida, yes. Texas, no, depending on what part of Texas. Crossing Texas can take an entire day. 300twinz Posted August 11, 2009 Author Share #18 Posted August 11, 2009 Needed to add another event. On Thursday morning a group of Z's will be traveling to Shiner, TX to tour the Shiner Brewery. After lunch they will be heading back to SA to meet the others who did the Downtown/Riverwalk tour event.http://www.shiner.com/In order to participate in the cruise/tour of Shiner you will need to donate a minimum of $5.00 for the City of Shiner. This donation can be given in the hotel parking lot before you head out to Shiner. This event is being organized by the folks at TwinTurbo.net Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/31730-2009-international-z-convention-san-antonio-tx/?page=2#findComment-291598 Share on other sites

hls30.com Posted August 11, 2009 Share #20 Posted August 11, 2009 Now hold on a minute, $50 buys a whole lot of sweet tea!I hardly drink alcohol, a margarita, a Pinnacollada, or a long island ice tea every once in while...but I can still count on one hand the drinks I have had in the last two years(course after a drink or two I seem to grow more fingers...hic! I doubt in that two years I have spent $50 on drinks-it is good to have friends who buy them for you-and a free bar at the convention!!!SO who all is coming to the show? Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/31730-2009-international-z-convention-san-antonio-tx/?page=2#findComment-291620 Share on other sites

hls30.com Posted August 12, 2009 Share #22 Posted August 12, 2009 I drink rum at the conventions And you are a happy man! I bet you were a rum running pirate in a previous life! Captian Chis! Captian of the dreaded double gunned Frigate, HMS TwinZ Taken from the previous owner Butt McKrack at the tip of a properly plated hood stay. Currently in drydock undergoing thorough modification for her new Captian! Her ships registry changed, from ZMecca, Fl to The Tricky Garage, Fl! 26th-Z Posted August 12, 2009 Share #23 Posted August 12, 2009 Will,You're scare-n me! When was the last time you had your meds checked? Perhaps a little too much Juicy Juice? Or could it be the macaroni and cheese? I know how I suffered on the small children diet years ago! I thought I was Peter Pan!No matter, I recovered. However I never had any car dealings with Butt McKrack, ever. Just an argument.
