keiths71240Z Posted May 11, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 11, 2009 Does anyone know who can stamp my new ID plates? Thay are an 1/8 inch or 3mm in height. Trophy shops and jewerly stores will not touch them. I'm sure someone has had their plates stamped on a total restoration. Zak's Z Posted May 11, 2009 Share #2 Posted May 11, 2009 I'm looking for someone to do mine also. I went to a few locksmiths and key shops and all would do them, but they 'etch' the letters and theres a limited choices of fonts. I don't think it would look right so I've been holding off. manny1973 Posted May 11, 2009 Share #3 Posted May 11, 2009 Just go buy a number stamp set at harbor freight tools or any other tool shop and do them yourself. Just practice on a plain piece of wood before doing the vin plate. sblake01 Posted May 11, 2009 Share #4 Posted May 11, 2009 Depends on what you want. I doubt if Harbor Freight's stamp set would match what Nissan used either. hls30.com Posted May 12, 2009 Share #5 Posted May 12, 2009 The Harbor Freight font does not match either of the three fonts I have found (and assume to be original) in the 240Zs I have looked at.Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/31836-vin-id-platesstamping/#findComment-283448 Share on other sites
Zak's Z Posted May 12, 2009 Share #6 Posted May 12, 2009 Is anyone aware of a stamp set that does match the font or is 'close enough'? I like the idea of doing it myself, I'd just like to get pretty close is all... Arne Posted May 12, 2009 Share #7 Posted May 12, 2009 I seem to recall that one of the Canadian vendors (Zedd Findings or ZeddSavers) would stamp a new plate for you when you purchased one from them. There may have been some talk that proof of ownership might have been needed, like perhaps the old plate. Can't recall for certain which vendor it was. 260zCaliCar Posted May 12, 2009 Share #8 Posted May 12, 2009 If anyone can get in touch with Norm (Zeddsaver) I would be interested in hearing about it. He seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.... Along with a few hundred of my dollars. Having said that, he and I did a lot of work together and up until this last order he was a really good guy. Honestly, I am more concerned about HIM than my money. Honestly, I am more concerned about HIM than my money.I am glad that I am not the only one here. I bought few parts from him that turned out unmatching set. When I called him about it he actually hang up on me after telling me not to take it back. Ever since then, he does not reply to my email, phone calls and all. He does an exellent job when actually does stuff as he said. It takes a lot of patience to deal with him. Knowing all that, I rather concern about this guy like you do. 260zCaliCar Posted May 15, 2009 Share #12 Posted May 15, 2009 Sounds like it's time to add (reluctantly) another name to the problem vendor list? Are there any Zeddsaver experiences within the last 6 months that have been positive? Even one? This is really unfortunate if there isn't.
