IdahoKidd Posted June 13, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 13, 2009 I am parting out a 240z with a good motor. A fellow has asked if it will work in his 280z using the 280z fuel injection setup. I don't see why not but I certainly do not know for sure. Any thoughts?Leonard Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/32187-fuel-injecting-the-240z-motor/ Share on other sites
sblake01 Posted June 13, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 13, 2009 240Z heads wouldn't have the notches for the fuel injection. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/32187-fuel-injecting-the-240z-motor/#findComment-286606 Share on other sites
hls30.com Posted June 13, 2009 Share #3 Posted June 13, 2009 (edited) Swapping an L24 into a 280Z would work, but lower the performance, and require some changes in the fuel delivery. Will Edited June 13, 2009 by hls30.com Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/32187-fuel-injecting-the-240z-motor/#findComment-286623 Share on other sites
IdahoKidd Posted June 14, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted June 14, 2009 Thanks guys. I wondered about the fuel injected manifold on the older motor. If that would be a direct bolt, the rest should go. I knew about the performance loss but it would be better than no motor I guess. sblake01 Posted June 14, 2009 Share #5 Posted June 14, 2009 There are notches at the top of the intake ports on the EFI heads that don't exist on the non EFI heads. The EFI manifold might be a direct bolt on to the E31/E88 head that is likely on your 240Z engine but would not work without those notches. Carl Beck Posted June 14, 2009 Share #6 Posted June 14, 2009 ... I knew about the performance loss but it would be better than no motor I guess."no motor" should not really be considered an alternative in Idaho - lots of L28's in Idaho.Tell the guy looking for an L28 to call Idaho Z Car2913 Garrity Blvd.Nampa, Idaho 83687-3629(208) 466-0004FWIW,Carl B.
