I was cleaning the SU’s on my 240Z and noticed that the needle in the middle on one of the SU’s was a little bent and this caused the core to get stuck approx 2/3rd’s the way down.

What are my options? Do I have to replace the core or can you just buy a new needle. Where can i find a new needle?

I looked all over the SU's and was unable to find make and model.

I apologize in advance if the question are trivial.

The problem with bent needles is that as they rub on the fuel nozzle the orifice in the nozzle can get worn oblong thus throwing off the mixture. Couple this with the fact that the needle can get worn smaller while the orifice is worn larger, moxture can be a crao shoot. Orifice size and needle size all the way down the profile are pretty precise.

You can try the drill motor straightening but if that doesn't work to your satisfaction we can supply needles. Just look your needle over well for signs of wear (shiny area) as it may have been going on for a long time.

We can also supply spot-on nozzles as well.

How much for 2 needle's?

I dont know the model or part number.

A pair of needles will set you back $30. Again you need to make a determination about the condiition of the nozzles before making a decision. We'll help determine a needle choice when you order.

I did see a trick in the old VHS video from ZTherapy that showed a way of straightening a needle by chucking it in a drill, running the drill at speed, and gently pressing the needle sideways into a rag or towel.

If you try to straighten it as MikeW said above, then use a piece of soft wood instead, it works very well.

Chris

thanx guys i used a drill and some soft wood and it worked wonders.
