S30TRBO Posted September 10, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 10, 2009 (edited) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120467058762&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123#ht_500wt_975 So I noticed this rusty (being generous) 240Z for sale on ebay "number 300 of 500 made" as the seller states. Out of pure curiosity I asked the seller a question: Hi, what is the VIN and the production date stamped on the drivers side door jam plate? Thanks it is stamped 1969, the lower 300 of 500, I have a clear florida titlethanks Ok thanks for answering my question somewhat. Let me try again and throw some b.s. in there to see if he is a Z guy. Hello again, Let me be more specific, on the drivers door jam by the door striker there is a metal plate with the VIN and the production date, it is stamped month and year. i.e. 8/69. What does it say? Also I don't know where you are getting the 300 of 500 from? The production didn't stop at 500 a 240Z with a 1000 VIN is as valuable as one with 300, or 500 http://www.zhome.com/IZCC/ZRegisters/. For example the VIN might read HLS30-00300, what does the vehicle say please? Thank you hello, in 69, 9/69, as the plate says, lower 300 made, there were only 500 240z that were built and brought over in 1969, unfortunately, I do not know how else to explain that, this is a 1969 datsun 240z, titled, as all 1969 cars were, as a 1970, but it was one of the first 500 that came over, hope that helps Holy crap I have half the questions answered, now we are getting somewhere one more attempt at basic Ebay buyer questions. yes it helped however what is the vin? HLS30-_____?thanks... sorry, I really do not want to give the entire vin, it is lower 300's, and the title is in my namethanks WOW I don't understand some people. Hell it could be #13....well no...ahem.... I mean it could be #3 for all we know. Why the big secret? I felt like saying how do you expect to sell it if you don't want to give the entire VIN out?? Mike B Posted September 10, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 10, 2009 It looks like the low VINs are coming out of the wood work now. I've seen this car listed several times on ebay and the seller is always vague about the VIN, which would definitely concern me. It shouldn't be a secret to someone considering bidding on the car. This car is a mess and no way it is worth the $2000 starting bid in my opinion. Look at the rot on the frame for starters and it doesn't get any better from there.-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/33127-70-240z-for-sale-on-ebay/#findComment-294282 Share on other sites
hls30.com Posted September 10, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 10, 2009 (edited) Sounds like this guy is hiding the vin-I am sure ebay would drop his sale because of the questionable nature of what he is selling. The number one reason is to hide a vin is a stolen car... Ebay frowns on that sort of thing-I bet getting his auction dropped would get his attention . It is really funny what some people think will add mystery and the illusion of worth to something...you think after so many trips down ebay(this car has been on several times) with so many questions and no sale he would have figured out his thoughts on the building mystery by not stating the vin have been proven to be completely ineffective. I have been trying to sell these, rare race suspension parts, for quite a while, maybe I should change my tactics... cbudvet Posted September 10, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 10, 2009 I haven't seen the ad but is there anyone in the area that could go look at it and see? I sure does sound pretty shady. moonpup Posted September 10, 2009 Share #5 Posted September 10, 2009 I believe this would be the same vehicle, he bounces the ads back and forth between the Miami and Orlando sites.http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/ctd/1326724788.html Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/33127-70-240z-for-sale-on-ebay/#findComment-294320 Share on other sites

JohnnyO Posted September 12, 2009 Share #7 Posted September 12, 2009 I tried to pry info out of this guy 3 or 4 months ago. I received the same vague responses. He is hiding something. Zak's Z Posted September 12, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 12, 2009 (edited) I also sent the seller a question asking for the VIN and this is his response:sorry, about being vague, but I do not want to give out the exact vin, I have had a bad experience with another vehicle a few years back doing that, but to narrow it down, the vin is between 320 and 350. The car is titled in my name, it is not stolen, there are no liens on it, everything is free and clearhope that helpsMy concern with this is that the vehicle could have been written off, flood damaged, big accident, etc and theres no way for me to do any checks. Even if its 'free and clear' that doesnt satisfy me totally. JohnnyO Posted September 12, 2009 Share #9 Posted September 12, 2009 Someone should offer this guy a grand for everything then purchase #491. You could use the engine from this one in #491 and at least have a period correct z.A lot of work but may be worth it. hls30.com Posted September 12, 2009 Share #10 Posted September 12, 2009 Sad that he hasn't realized from his repeated and consistantly futile attempts to sell the car that if he would not buy it with out knowing the Vin noone else will either. Funny how people like this can find a dead end an inch from a doorway. Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/33127-70-240z-for-sale-on-ebay/#findComment-294509 Share on other sites

280~Master Posted October 3, 2009 Share #12 Posted October 3, 2009 This is my reply to his Ebay auction!!!!!So what is the VIN of this car????As many times as you have listed this you should have placed the VIN on the auction. Sounds like you are trying to pull a fast one on people. The bad thing is you are dealing with Z enthusiasts who know what to look for. Tell the truth or you will keep listing it.Quit trying to SUCKER people like AL(AKA) (Datsun Parts) does.
