rskdsk Posted October 21, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 21, 2009 Are the SY carbs in sets or can I swap out ... a bad one (dirt) for a rebuilt one and just retune? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/33601-can-i-change-out-just-one-su-carb/ Share on other sites
MikeW Posted October 21, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 21, 2009 I'm sure you could but it seems strange. Where are you going to find just one? What's really wrong with bad one that can't be fixed? 260zCaliCar Posted October 21, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 21, 2009 There is a difference between the front one and the back one, so if your going to attempt a replacement, make sure you get the right one. Other than that, the answer is yes, you can swap just one and retune. But getting a "new" one and an old worn out one to tune perfectly seems like a little more of a challenge than tuning a set in equal condition. Bruce at ZTherapy would know best. Bruce Palmer Posted October 21, 2009 Share #4 Posted October 21, 2009 I'd say buy the JUST SUs DVD and go through the dirty one or even better both. Put them on and see what you have. At least you would be matching up the level of "worn-out". Dialing in worn out SU, even clean ones can be like chasing your tail. Hard to get them set and keep them set.
