logan1 Posted November 14, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 14, 2009 Today while i was taking the old brake rotors out and noticed that the little rubber boot on the drivers side ball joint on the outer tie rod was missing. What is the cheapest fix for this problem? Do i have to replace the outer tie rod end and ball joint? or can i just go out and buy a new rubber boot for the existing ball joint?I'm on a rather tight budget currently and need to save every dollar i can.ThanxJohn Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/33829-do-i-need-a-new-outer-tie-rod-ends-ball-joint/ Share on other sites
Zs-ondabrain Posted November 14, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 14, 2009 (edited) I put these on mine, when I found mine had rotted away to oblivian. I just cleaned out the old grease and any possible dirt, etc. Slid the new urethanes on there, regrease thru the zirks and I'm good to go. Rubber breaks down when exposed to most lubes and the urethanes don't. They'll last longer too. Try here for info..... http://energysuspension.com/products/Tie-Rod-Ball-Joint-Boots.html Dave And here they are on my 260Z...
