I just purchased a '73 about 2 months ago. As purchased, it had Weber DGV downdrafts, and pretty much nothing else. No rust, great interior, but barely ran, and came with an uninstalled tokico suspension set (struts/springs) and uninstalled energy suspension bushings. heres how it was when i first brought it home:

im totally in love with the car, and it needed alot of work to get it driveable and reliable again. since i bought it i installed the suspension kit, all the urethane bushings (what a pain!), and bought some wheels, redid the header-back exhaust to 2.25 inch piping with a single glasspack. Then from there it was the usual tune up stuff, valve adjustment, and new ignition components (distributor/plugs/points/condensor/coil/ballast). as for looks, besides the wheels, i put some nicer mirrors on, and cleaned up the bumpers.

after all that brought me to looking like this:

two videos of when it still had the webers:

once i got all that out of the way, i thought it was running pretty well, but after some research on these forums I decided to ditch the weber downdraft dgv's and get a hold of early SU's. fortunately the previous owner of my car had a set of '72 SU's that he didnt need and just gave them to me. i went through them and put new float needles in/gaskets, etc. gosh, what a difference, no wonder everyone praises the SU's :)

heres the engine bay as of today, and a short vid of how it runs.

yes, thats a little plastic medicine cup over the engine bay light, the lens fell off, its temporary! ROFL other than replacing that and getting a new dash cap, ill leave it alone for awhile.

little vid:

and thats it. i really love my Z, as im sure all of you do, i keep telling myself i should have gone one a long time ago. they're so fun to work on.
