Been playing around on the site for about a month, but never formally introduced myself. Purchased my first and only Z in 1984. Was a bright yellow 1977 280Z. Have been looking for a mostly original 240Z, but nothing yet. I've found the site and members to be very helpful.

Yeah, clean 240's in your price range are hard to find now a days. But we did find one just out of your set price. It does have some nice goodies on it that you might upgrade a total stock 240z with.

If you find a good one, you might as well get it. These cars values have been skyrocketing. Besides it is cheaper to buy a great car instead of a good car to make great. If you do the math you would more than likely do better getting a car out of your initial price range. Hagerty insurance calls me for the last two years about increasing the value of the car with them. The only do this with cars were the value increases by 15% a year. This is compared to my Dad who doesn't get a call about his vintage Vette. That is something to think about, because it caught me by surprise when I tried to replace my first Z.

In fact when I went to look for a new Z the only ones that were close to my Z were going for over $20,000 and I had a $20,000 agreed value with a not so great collector car insurance company (you get what you pay for with collector car insurance I learned that Hagertey was one of the most expensive, but the best value in my book). Well let me say this when the car was hit their was a car at a good value but it sold before I got the check I had the money and I regret not getting it. It was exactly what I wanted, a never restored Z car with good history and stories to go with it, no rust issues, some cool parts (BRE Spook, AM wheels, and front hub oilers the coolest part), but mostly stock. For a year and a half I could not find anything and ended up settling on the one I have now. Don't get me wrong I like my car but the values of these cars change so fast by the time you replace a car you will shell out a lot more.

I know...I'm picky. I want the one the little old lady only drove to church on Sunday. It's all about logistics. I want a 240Z that is pretty much rust free and unmolested. Well, all those cars are in AZ, CA, TX and so on. So, there are the issues of getting there to look at the car before it's sold and shipping to Colorado. I'll find one, but it's going to take time.

The blue one didn't look as nice as it did in the picture untill I put some work into it their are a lot of good Z's Colorado I grew up their and the blue one is from Colorado. When I was first looking I found some decent ones outside of Ft Collins and some ads in the Springs, and found a lot of beat-up ones in Aurora area. If you see a good deal you might want to consider flying out and taking a look, shipping a car isn't all that bad. I just would not buy sight unseen.

To give you an idea on shipping in later summer of 2007 I looked at several cars hear was what I was quoted for shipping.

Denver to Philly $980

Western Montana to Philly $1,300

Phoenix to Philly 1,050

Detroit to Philly $1,000

Nashville to Philly $350

Definetly start with the best Z you can afford. You can also rely an many folks on this site to provide a quick assessment. I've seen some of the rust free Z's in the Denver area. I could see through the floor on one when I was shopping for mine. If you spot one in the C.S. area, I don't mind doing a quick check to save you a trip. Best of luck in your search.

That car was also listed on ebay and in our classifieds today (four times!). It looks like it just sold on ebay with the BIN of $6,700. Seems like it is in pretty good shape, but will definitely need a repaint based on the ebay pictures.

John must have had problems with the classifieds. That car is a great car. He also has a couple of roadsters, one undergoing a restoration and another 2k with a sr20dt or whatever the turbo 4 cylinders are. It was fast with just the original 2.0, but with the new motor it's insanely fast.

The paint shines up good. He could pick them out real quick, but you would have to studying the paint to pick most of the blemishes. He's very thorough when selling items on ebay. If he had only put a reserve instead of the BIN, it could have gone a lot higher.
