Motorsport Auto's 2010 West Coast Nationals

Recommended Posts

It's a 2400+ mile round trip for me, the Wife and the Mistress.

Gas is about $300 (7 tanks at $3 per gallon, 25 MPG average)

Hotel on Katella Ave/Harbor St? is about $80 per night X 3 nights = $240

Motels along the way $45 per night X 2 = $90

Food for the 1 week away from home is about $300

For a total of about $930 +/- $100

Even if they charge $15 or $20 for the event, per person, I don't think I'd really miss the $20 compard to the $1000 minimun for everything else.

I Just got off the phone with Jay at Motorsport Auto and he said " We hope to have a big anouncement in about 2 weeks" & "Everything is a GO and they just need to tie up a couple loose ends before they make anything official"

There ya go,

Dave

That is GREAT news!..very glad to hear it. Thanks for checking into this! :):):)

Let's hope it's a go! I was thinking my Z would be ready for this year's event--but it's looking more like 2011. I brought my daughter to last year's Motorsport Z fest and the only thing she enjoyed was the carnival-like swing ride. Here's to dragging her there in 2010!

Omg calling motorsport and asking them personally if there will be a MSA...

What a great idea...though it took a guy who, in his spare time, rips apart wiring harness's and figures out a better way to build em to figure out to just call over to motorsport...and ask. ( the rest of us coulda went on like this for awhile..) (sorry i thought it was funny...considering im 2 blocks away from motorsport and couldve stopped in so easy and just asked..but never even considered doing that..)

That's kinda what I was thinking, so I just called them. I know the number by heart so it was no big deal to reach over and hit a few buttons and ask the obvious.

Gary was on the line with another customer but Jay fired out an answer quick enough.

Don't worry, every once in a while, I like a smart a$$ remark. Still giggling over here. LOL

I was in Motorsports on the 6th and they told me that the show was not going to be in Irvine Park due to "scheduling conflicts." They weren't sure yet what they were going to do. I said it would be nice if they just went back to having it on the street in front of the store again and the guy said Greg was considering some kind of barbeque, but probably not that big.

I guess we'll just have to stand by for the "big" announcement.

Best,

Bob

I was at motorsports last weekend and spoke with Garret. I did not ask him about this years event but I asked him how business was in relation to the economy. He stated "we are doing very well with international sales". Perhaps are devalued dollar has struck a bargon for international z car owners? Not suggesting anything but we can all agree that times have changed economically here in the states this past year. Makes one think? What would I do as a business owner in these times? Park, no park, I will be at this years meet.

best regards

John

The moved it to the park for many reasons.

The event kept getting bigger and bigger and space did not allow for it.

The Park is out of the way, away from constant traffic, less issues with city ordinances dealing with permits, distractions ectc.

The park also allows for a wider split of Models (Z, ZX, S30, S130, Z31, Z32 etc.)

I've been at both locations and the park is far superior to the hot black top of dissorganized chaos. If it's not at the park or a similar area, I would seriously rethink my driving 1200 miles to park on the street again.

Hi Bob!

uh oh... now thats a development...i cant imagine where they would put it other than the park..

even though i like the "street scene" on Collins Ave..

it had a different feel to it...more grit, less fluff..more like a real car show, less like a concours event.

Collins Ave just has nowhere to expand outward to....without crossing

Main or Batavia St....

Sigh, Collins Ave is just too small...

Hmm maybe the Mighty ducks or Angels parking lots?

(really close to motorsport)

though still a asphalt jungle..

but the parking lots are big enough to hold a track event onsite! Hmmmmm......

Wow, now im thinking those big stadium lots might just a good move.....

Below a couple of old Motorsport "Street" Nationals pics...

The long line to get in...

and a shot of the street scene itself....

One of the places I recommended above was the park where they have JCCS over by the waterpark. On this 40th anniversary of the Z car for Motorsport Auto not hold a big event is so sad.

So this will be the first trip we make. Wanted to go for years but haven't took action. So from what I read, MSA is going to have it, however, just need to tie up loose ends before its official. We are coming from colorado with a 78 280z and a 84 300zx and would like to know just basic details. I know its open to public, but are pets allowed? We have a dog that goes everywhere with us. Other basic info would be appreciated. Thanks for helping
