Mike,

No harm done?

Certainly does not feel that way to me.

I was on the receiving end of some highly personal insults back there, and I am surprised that what was said does not seem to have raised any eyebrows.

I always try to keep things Z related, and my original post was merely pointing out that the site in question was not perfect. In return for an attempt at an interesting / entertaining / ironic answer to a question ( stating an opinion that was openly requested ) I get a personal roasting and all sorts of other irrelevant nonsense thrown at me.

Not what I call No Harm Done.

I try to have a sense of humour about myself ( hence the slightly self-deprecating posts sometimes, which it seems might have been missed by some of those tuning in ) but when it gets that personal I reach for the Duelling Pistol set.

Pompous arse? Not so much of the pompous if you please......

Alan T.

Guys, this isn't getting anywhere. Should I start deleting members and pissing everyone off? Nope. You're all adults. Deal with it like you would in real life.

Getting pissed at each other probably isn't the best solution.

Guys

I think many people who contribute to this site need to lighten up a bit.

Most people enjoy a bit of a wizz take, particularly the aussie, pom, yank triangle.

I posted a reply to the Zed vrs Zee debate which I wrote as a light hearted (using several smilies) dig at you yanks.

The response I got to that was to call me an arrogant Australian I've only just felt safe enough to leave my houseLOL

We may not always agree with what is written, in jest or otherwise, but as soon as it becomes personal we have lost the plot.

Beandip, I know you apologised for the IRA remark but comments like that will alienate you from many people, it is the same as non Americans making similar statements about september 11.

The IRA have been blowing up innocent people for over 20 years!

This is a great site, let's keep it that way

Lee

At the end of the day .... (what a great line eh???) Beandip did ask what people thought of the link... and Alan quite rightly did just that.

Alan (who is quite capable of defending himself and I am stepping out of line here, but unfortunartely I think more clarification is necessary) I am sure wasnt making a personal dig at the writer of Z Garage, whom alot of us are MOST grateful for his VERY useful web pages - me included, he was just clarifying some points he has noted when looking at the site.

If someone knows more info. or knows a better way of doing something, then that person should speak up for the benefit of all.

Alot of people I am sure HAVE the knowledge and either:

A) Keep it a closely guarded secret for themselves

B) Can't be bothered to participate and just read threads

C) Or are too timid to speak up and say... well actually I dont think thats right.

Just my 2 pence worth

I agree 100% on what you say , the thing that twisted my tail is the crack about pigknuckle what ever. That was condecending and pompus and that is what tore the rag off the bush for me thats all . I realize and bow to the superior knowledge Alan has of the ins and outs of Datsun/Nissan in europe , but that doesnt apply here if the differences are not available, so its a non issue. I think that we have hashed this over enough and I hope that in the future we have a good give and take , I value Alans knowledge and am thankful of his willingness to share it.

Let's also not forget the fact that we all come from different parts of the world. Along with this comes different social systems, communication etiquette, transportation systems, etc... And, let's not forget that our Z's are different.

Don't get pissed at each other because of these differences.

After reading the message thread myself, I only see a lot of useful information within the posts. Sure, there was some uncalled-for personall slamming, but, that's the stuff we need to avoid.

So, back to it... eh? :tapemouth

I just bought a '81zx flat top engine with a cam and headers and it was built 38k ago , its a strong engine. $500. I think it is a good buy and plan for it to go into my 240 since I missed the '77, this engine is inJected with a ported intake and new injecters. I plan on running SUs . the guy I bought the engine from built it for him self ,bu t they are now having an additon to the family so the z has to go. Your '77 was the cleanest Zcar that I have seen and who ever bought it got a great car. The only thing that held be back was it was a 2+2 . That is why I hesitated . When you said that it had dammage to the roof I thought it was more extensive not just that little rust . O' well thats history . The samples are in the mail for the window cling. All the best, Gary

I am leaving for Palm Springs on Sat. and will be gone for at least a week so if things do fall apart let me know I am still interested , especially since I now have a great engine. I will be here till at least Sat. ZZZEEya Gary

Zvoiture, thank you for putting me straight on that one. My mental GPS must have been playing up.................... I dialled in "FS5C71-A" and nothing came up, so I presumed there was no such thing.
