beandip Posted March 7, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 7, 2010 L-28 F-54 NA or Turbo. What head are you running? Is it milled ? I looked out of the window tonight and could not see clearly what you have. Sorry I couldn't help it , the devil made me do it !Gary Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/34954-broken-piston/#findComment-311702 Share on other sites
77stock_rocks Posted March 7, 2010 Share #4 Posted March 7, 2010 The last post is a good start but there are too many unanswered questions to comment on flat top v. dish, like is this a normally aspirated engine? Are you running an aftermarket cam, if so what kind of lift, duration, overlap? What about lash caps? The only parts advice I could offer, given the limited information, is that I found a good deal on play-dough (is that the spelling?) at Walmart. Trust me, you will need it if you build a serious engine. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/34954-broken-piston/#findComment-311715 Share on other sites

=Enigma= Posted March 13, 2010 Share #7 Posted March 13, 2010 If I recall correctly, broken ring lands are often caused by excessive pinging or pre-ignition. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/34954-broken-piston/#findComment-312368 Share on other sites
