BTF/PTM Posted March 26, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 26, 2010 Picked up a new rubber shift boot from MSA, it's actually a real Nissan part. Anyway, I have the metal ring that seals the boot to the transmission tunnel but no nuts or bolts. What type of hardware holds these parts together? Bonzi Lon Posted March 26, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 26, 2010 IIRC, on my 73, they were about 3/4 to inch long sheet metal type screws. Flat blade top with a sharp point on the end. They fasten into the steel body and can't been seen with the console on. So about anything you can find that will hold tight to make a good seal would work. Self tapping comes to mind.Bonzi Lon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/35197-hardware-for-inner-rubber-shift-boot-metal-ring/#findComment-313732 Share on other sites
BTF/PTM Posted March 26, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted March 26, 2010 Awesome, thanks. I suspected screws had been used before, a couple of the tunnel holes are pulled upward a bit. Becuz of that slight warp in those holes, I thought maybe the wrong parts had been used which is why I asked. I'll try to flatten them with some nuts & washers before I put in the screws.IIRC, on my 73, they were about 3/4 to inch long sheet metal type screws. Flat blade top with a sharp point on the end.
