Posted April 2, 201015 yr comment_314720 I put Toyota calipers on my 72 Z and now the 14" wheels rub slightly on the calipers. I wonder if I used a 10 or 15mm spacer if the wheels would no longer rub. I don't really want to upgrade the wheels at this time because I am planning on selling the car. Has anyone tried this? April 2, 201015 yr comment_314722 Might also be able to grind on the calipers a bit too, depending on where they rub. Be careful with wheel spacers on a Z. The ones you buy at the auto parts store just barely don't fit. It's close enough that I bolted them on for a couple years, all the while wondering why I couldn't get the wheels balanced right. Finally one of them started to crack. I replaced with different spacers and that solved the problem. April 2, 201015 yr comment_314724 If you do go with spacers, try to use the thinnest possible. If the rubbing is just a little, a 1/8" (or sometimes 5mm) may be all you need. The lug studs on a Z aren't very long, so the less spacer the better. But I'd first look into using a file or grinder on the caliper, as Jon noted. Often all you need is a little casting clean up. April 3, 201015 yr Author comment_314750 It's barely rubbing so I will try grinding the caliper. I can get some 10mm spacers if that does not work They come with longer studs.
