So I am hooking up my heat shield and return springs on my SU set-up and I am kind of baffled about the center linkage. Please look at the picture and the arrow, what hooks to this. Of course this pic doesn't show the heat shield and return spring. The rear carb seems to work as advertised as far as the balance screw, but the forward carb the balance lever just flops around. I believe I have the return springs in there proper place.

Just installed my ZT carbs and linkage last Thurs. Looks like you have all the emisions off the balance tube, that arm is usually connected to the "hold it open when coming off throttle" servo, which you don't have. On the center linkage, just below the screw adjuster on that arm, should be a little tab that the front carb shaft arm fits between.

So bottom to top should be 1) little tab on the bottom of center linkage, 2) front carb shaft arm, 3) arm on center linkage without screw 4) then arm for emision device with screw. You can probably just tie wrap the loose arm to keep it from flopping.

Hard to describe, let me know and I can take a photo of mine and post it.

The adjust screw on the emision device arm is just to adjust the emision device. The screw near the rear carb is for the carb balance adjustment.

Okay, thanks

it's starting to come back to me. So not having this will not affect me being able to sync my carbs right? The carbs actuate and return properly with the center linkage, so maybe I can remove this part of the linkage?

Yeah, the emision arm has no effect on being able to sync the carbs and in your case you don't need it 'cause it's just going to float without the servo hooked up. No idea about removing it from the linkage, someone else w/out emisions may be able to tell you.

BTW, that's a great looking engine compartment!

Dave,

thanks for the help and thanks for the compliment. I actually blanked all the stuff from the balance tube myself, and for a minute was worried that I blanked too much:paranoid:

I might take off the center linkage and see if I can remove the arm some way.

I only hope it runs as good as it looks;)
