Just recently sold a Jensen Healey. My biggest complaint of British sports cars is that they ALL LEAK OIL. Most mechanics will simply tell you to buy a pan for your garage floor. If your friend is ok with oil leaking & it will not his (or her) primary car a TR6 is a attractive & fun car.

Why don't the Brit's build computers?

They couldn't figure out how to make 'em leak oil. :-)

Bumper sticker seen on MGB, "all parts falling off this auto are of the finest British Quality"

Quote attriubuted to Joe Lucas, "gentlemen do not motor about after dark."

And of course, "Ran when parked!"

TR6's are a good car to restore as every part of the car is still available and even new shells were available till recently. There is a lot of tunning companies who do parts for the engine's and suspension. You can now make a far better car now for than what came out of the factory. TR6 is one of the most collectable British sports cars and the only main real difference from the early models to late models was that early models had twin SU carbs and the later ones had injections which i think they were Lucas. As for Lucas electrics they aren't as bad as what people make out.

1)Not to be confused with SU's that came on Z-cars.

2)You're right-they were worse.

...Why do the British drink warm beer? They use Lucas refridgerators.

I actually saw that sentence on a bumper sticker on a Triumph Spitfire an a SCCA event at Raceway Park in the early 80's.

Now the part about the TR6 having a frame is interesting...

I've never owned a British car but have always heard every electrical switch had 3 positions. Off, blink and smoke.

Didn't think the TR6 had a frame, either. About as surprised as seeing a truck frame under the 68 Roadster. :)
