Something that I think would be even more awesome is matching carbon fiber ZG flares. I haven't looked into it, but has that been done? :classic:

p.s. Just go to 240z and scroll down. Cann't miss it. CARBON FIBER HOOD! hehehe.

I bought the car pictured from Les a few weeks ago, and I can tell you the quality of the CF hood is excellent. I went for the original steel hood, myself, as I wanted a more stock look, so Les still has the gently used CF hood, and I'm sure new ones as well. Give Classic Datsun a call if you are in the market for one.

How is the crunch factor on these carbon fiber parts? Stronger than fiberglass but weaker then metal? Would a blemish be fixed the way fiberglass is repaired?

All these Z parts comming out now that the 77 is done is just not fair

Zrush, I dont have much experience with carbon fiber, but from what Im told carbon fiber is much stronger then some metals and definatly fiberglass. As for being able to repair a blemish, I would think it is impossible. Carbon fiber is different from fiberglass in the respect that carbon fiber is formed from applying several sheets of woven fibres made of kevlar to each other until the desired thickness is achieved. So if you had a dent or scratch you couldnt just fill it with bondo.

p.s. Can someone confirm this? Not entirely sure, just though I'd give my imput

Come on Vicky, you know our toys (cars) are never really done, even if they appear to be! If you want CF parts, buy CF parts! I know with mine, which has been done and a driver for a little over two year now, I may just get the bug to turn it into the car I originally wanted at the start of the redo.....a 300+HP SBF w/5 spd, necessary chassis mods, fuel cell, Quaife diff, CV type drive axles, rollbar, and maybe paint job!!? I quess all it takes is time/money. Probably another $10K by the time its said and done. I do know one thing for sure....if I had that kind of HP I would certainly be using it. This would likely translate into EXHIBITION OF SPEED citations. Would doing this catagorize me as a future HYBRIDZ guy? Hummmm.....would you all frown and send me away or would I still be a welcome CLASSIC ZCAR CLUB member. (this should get some responces)

Greatwhite, Just to make a clearification........carbon fiber and kevlar are two different animals. Some manufactures use kevlar weave for the internal layers and then use carbon fiber weave for the external layer (for visual effect) to keep costs down. True CF race parts are usually all CF, are thinner by comparison, and lighter than the CF/kevlar mix street parts. Just some food for thought!
