240zMO Posted June 14, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 14, 2010 Hello everybody, I found a 240z I really want but I have cold feet and driving myself crazy over it. My brother in-law had one when I first got my license and he would let me drive it every weekend, it was one of the funnest cars I ever drove. I figured at this price I could even part it out and make money if worse came to worse. The car is about an hour away from me and I have a friend that says he can trailer it home. Do all of you think this is a good deal?http://stlouis.craigslist.org/bar/1790599416.html Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/36183-hello-all-found-one-but-have-cold-feet/ Share on other sites
cbudvet Posted June 14, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 14, 2010 Hmmm. I depends on a lot of things. I purchased mine for 500 but have put almost 8 grand into it at this point. I looks like it is in pretty good shape but from the pictures you cant tell a lot about it. It already has bondo and rust issues but they don't say how much. I doubt the mileage is really 36xxx. Unless it is documented, I would think it is more likely 136xxx. That is pretty typical. In my opinion it seems like a good buy as long as the rust hasn't gone through the floor and frame rails. Everything is fixable with the right amount of money. If you are looking for a good project it looks promising. If you are looking for a daily driver immediately, it won't work. Good luck. Keep us posted.carl Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/36183-hello-all-found-one-but-have-cold-feet/#findComment-322550 Share on other sites
alternativez Posted June 14, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 14, 2010 You should have more than cold feet on this one. The title is not clear? That's a problem which may mean you will wait a long time and may never have a registered car. Find out what is up with the title. It took me 1 1/2 years to get a title in a similar circumstance, with much help from law and BMV. Old projects bring their old problems. If you could get the title and the car for the $600, that would not be so bad. You are right; the Z is the most fun car I have ever drive also, but it will be extensive work and money to enjoy this one. How is the dash? There, I've been the naysayer. Or...jump in; keep talking, maybe the seller can help you a little more. Good luck, keep us posted. WingZr0 Posted June 14, 2010 Share #4 Posted June 14, 2010 (edited) $1600 will get you a running Z with very little rust if any in some cases. And on the title on this one i say wait too. Don't let the Orange color fool ya, it's not a race car yet .
