moonpup Posted August 19, 2010 Share #13 Posted August 19, 2010 (edited) This guy has a bunch of them and although his shipping is kind of high, the total cost is lower:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Valve-Spring-Compressor-3087-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ230482519736QQptZMotorsQ5fAutomotiveQ5fTools The total cost is a bargain. I'm curious though, because at that price and the fact that he makes no mention of the KD Tools brand, if these are "cheap" knock-offs. Oh well, I've been known to do business with Harbor Freight. Diseazd Posted August 22, 2010 Author Share #16 Posted August 22, 2010 Moonpup....I ordered the $15.00 item that SBLAKE01 offered. I was waiting to see the item before I replied. It looked liked the real deal and even a knock off would be fine for this simple task. I will get back to you as soon as I receive it. Thanks for your help. sblake01 Posted August 25, 2010 Share #19 Posted August 25, 2010 Glad that worked out for you. I've had my valve spring compressor for so long I don't even remember where I got it. It's either a no name or the anything that identifies it has long since worn off. It might even be a Harbor Freight item though it looks very similar to the KD 3087. Diseazd Posted August 25, 2010 Author Share #20 Posted August 25, 2010 This tool makes installing rockers and lash pads a cinch. Everyone should own one......especially if you set up rocker geometry on after-market cams! olzed Posted October 18, 2013 Share #23 Posted October 18, 2013 (edited) Not too dificult to make one of these. You need access to a small lathe.Hack saw. Drill. Some pipe for a handle, three or four inches of heavy wall tube to machine into the required dimensions to press on the valve spring, some 1/8 inch flat m/s to cut into a hook shape to go under the cam. A couple of 3/8 inch bolts. A bench grinder, and some imagination.
