Teellandor Posted August 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 18, 2010 'ello all. Just picked up a 73 240Z this week. I actually rescued it from the crusher. The sucker even has a clean title. I've been (lazily) looking for one of these since my mother sold her 280ZX 2+2 years ago, and this one happened to blip on a friend of mine's radar. That in mind, my project list got shuffled a bit. While my Chevy truck still tops the list, I need to get this car on the road very soon. The engine seems ok (for sitting in a field for god only knows how long), but we'll see how it goes this weekend. I'm kinda amazed at how close the setup is on these to some of my friend's British Lawn Art. The body's been banged up, though. This car (mostly) survived the Windsor Tornado that blew by a couple years ago. [/ramble off] Sorry dudes. I'll stop now. d240zx2 Posted August 18, 2010 Share #2 Posted August 18, 2010 Hey, Ziggy, welcome to the forum. If you've got any questions about how to do this, that, or the other, you've come to the right place.Use of the search function will give you immediate answers to a lot of your questions, as there aren't too many mysteries about the old Z cars that haven't been solved.Of course, if you cannot find the answer using search, then ask away. BTW, if you've got some snaps of your car, their always appreciated, especially when you're asking a question about a certain part, procedure, etc. Besides, we never get tired of looking at Zs! Teellandor Posted August 22, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted August 22, 2010 Thanks, dudes. Only got two pics right now. The one posted in my garage, and one of the only gorram light that works on the car. :stupid: I am still trying to get it running right now. Though I will need some body parts and glass, there is an import auto salvage/recycling yard only 50mi away. I'll give them a call soon. I think I just need a third arm or prehensile tail at this point. I have spark and the starter works, but it won't fire. Yes, I know the fuel line's not hooked up, but the tanks empty anyway. I squirted gas, then ether in the carbs and got nuthin. [shrug] The guy that found this thing for me also has a bunch of old Triumphs, and the setups are eerily similar to my Z. We're gonna work it out over the next couple of weeks. Teellandor Posted August 22, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted August 22, 2010 And in case I miss configured my gallery: I plan on giving the BLA wheel (rear) to my friend that helped me get the car home, but would be nice to get one more of the slotted wheels. The spare is the "iron cross" design.
