A couple of weeks ago, I asked you all for air dam advice. Thanks so much. Here's the result.

Really the car has come so very far since I bought it, 7 months ago. It really helps having just parted out my first 72 in having a spare everything! I was able to select the best condition part. So, the hood was replaced, as the original had a bent tip, The grill (the IPO painted it green!), The turn lenses as the old ones were very fogged and the inner reflectors were rusted, and the bumper as this one is much better than the bent one that came on the car.

That's just the Front! you should have seen the rear!!! :surprised :stupid:

But, I've got the serious case of "Z Love" now. I get so freaken happy as I walk up to her in the parking lot and after every drive, I pat the dash and say "Good Girl!"

Anywhere else those statments would be received as strange. But here, I know you all can relate!

Hey Victor Laury, very nice air dam. Is that the one from Motor Sport Auto? If so which model number is it? I was looking around for a nice one but it's hard for me to judge how things look in MSA's catalog.

I was planning on buying the same style in fiberglass, from MSA.

But, My local Z shop, Sunset Z, Had this used, but in good shape, urethane one for $50.00. Since I would have to paint either one, I decided to save some money. Worked out fine.

If it is the urethane air dam, I believe it's the part number 50-1411 that MSA carries.

How much did you do to your bumper, or was it already like that? Mine has the two big vertical pieces and also the extra bar above the bumper. I always liked the clean look of the way you have your bumper, but I'm not sure if it's possible to get mine to look like it.

BTW, nice job with the air dam - something I also would like to have. I've looked longingly at the air dams in the MSA catalog, and the one you installed is the one I've wanted.

I don't care for bumper overridders (the vertical pieces). I've taken them off of ever Z and Roadster I've had. They were a "band aid" patch to meet US safety requirements. I can't see how our flimsy bumpers could have anything to do with safety to begin with!

I'm not happy with this bumper either. I'm looking for a Euro bumper, or, I might get one of my spares rechromed and all the holes filled.

Your secondary horizontal bar is a vintage dealer and aftermarket add on by AMCO, who made accessories for Datsuns.

Victor, Nice job! I don't know if this was mentioned before but the urathane air dam will flex under high speeds. The bottom lip needs to be supported in the center. I've seen one flex up to 2-3 inches at 70 mph

I'm thinking of using an "L" shaped metal bracket from the center grill support to the top of the spoiler.

Air dam looks good but I love mine and have not seen any around with the same style. I seem to get at least one compliment a week. :classic:
