Hi,

Just purchased a '71 240z and I'm pretty pumped about it. It's been with same owner in central Ca. since 1973 and it's been stored for about 20 years. It's got 80,xxx original miles and is in fantastic condition. Paint has some blems, but the interior is GORGEOUS, and best of all, ZERO RUST. I'm in the process of bringing it out of hibernation as the brakes, clutch system, and fuel system need some attention obviously. Anyway, glad to be here and I'm sure I'll be looking to you folks for advice and support.

Will

IT IS A-L-I-V-E!!!!! Desperate need of carb work, probably a trip to Z therapy, but none the less it fired up. Never mind the gas puking all over......I'm stoked

congrats! I can relate to the feeling, but one word of caution even though I had gas spewing out of my flat top carbs, the problem stoped after crancking the car and leting it idle for a few days. I did not want to start pouring all kinds of money on my car just yet, just want to be wise about it. If you car idles fine before you turn it on spray some carb cleaner before and after that is what did the trick I think...just my 2cents.

Welcome 5150!

I STRONGLY recommend dropping the gas tank and cleaning it out. You will forever struggle with the gunk that is left behind after much of the old fuel dried in the tank. It should be an easy process since it's rust free.

Agreed. POR (Paint Over Rust) has a product that is well liked here.

Oh, and welcome.

Thanks guys for the info. I did not run it through the tank, I just ran a piece of fuel line from the fuel pump into a can with fresh fuel. Next week I'll get into removing the tank and cleaning it out. The tank actually did have some rusty sediment drain out of it so I'll probably go the POR 15 route unless I can find a nice clean tank somewhere close by.
