Zedyone_kenobi Posted September 14, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 14, 2010 I have wondered this for a while, and a recent message I received got me thinking about it. Did bob sharp produce oil filler caps. This is a picture of mine and I am not sure if it is directly from Bob Sharp, or something that was made with a hot glue gun in somebodies garage. It sure does look like somebody stuck a decal on a oil filler cap. Is this an original piece or something somebody made up. I need the help of Datsun Jedi Counsel. sblake01 Posted September 14, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 14, 2010 (edited) I remember seeing this BSR cam cover on HybridZ earlier this year. Bad picthre but it seems to have a similar cap: Edited September 14, 2010 by sblake01 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/37092-bob-sharp-oil-filler-cap/#findComment-330797 Share on other sites

JohnnyO Posted September 14, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 14, 2010 The decal is similar but the caps are not. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/37092-bob-sharp-oil-filler-cap/#findComment-330815 Share on other sites
sblake01 Posted September 14, 2010 Share #5 Posted September 14, 2010 Same decal/sticker. One is on an oem cap the other is on a aftermarket cap. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/37092-bob-sharp-oil-filler-cap/#findComment-330819 Share on other sites
Kathy & Rick Posted September 14, 2010 Share #6 Posted September 14, 2010 The "decal" is actually a thin "tin" or aluminum disc we had made up for multiple uses. It could be (and was) applied to various components onBob Sharp specialty cars; it was also available for one to apply toaftermarket items such as horn buttons, gearshift knobs, alloy wheelcenter caps, key fobs, and whatever else the imagination could conceive. Most items such as the above when purchased from the Bob Sharp catalogue already had the disc applied.FWIW, Rick Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/37092-bob-sharp-oil-filler-cap/#findComment-330844 Share on other sites

gnosez Posted September 15, 2010 Share #8 Posted September 15, 2010 I'll look under the hood next week and see what's there but I really doubt they used anything "bling" like the oil filler cap in a real race car. I know that neither the Tom Cruise, the 240/280 BSR or the 280ZXTT have any of these items on them. That said I need to check if the 240/280 engine had a BSR valve cover.
