... that Nissan reproduced a limited number of 240Z's in the early 1990's ? I remember reading that they started with clean , rust-free cars then completely rebuilt them . I even recall the magazine ad showing a yellow car with awful spoked rims ! Is this true or am I having an acid flashback that never happened ?! New member , BTW , who used to own a 240 and stupidly sold it:stupid: . Thanks .

"In America the Z-car went on hiatus from 1997 to 2002, as Nissan focused more on SUVs and was also in some financial trouble. To keep Z-car interest alive, Nissan launched a restoration program in 1998 for which they purchased original 240Zs, professionally restored them, and re-sold them at dealerships for about $24,000."

Search on this site for vintage Z program and you will find a lot of information. Here is one thread to start you out http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15911. Whatever you do, don't refer to them as "factory" restorations, since they were done by a couple of Z specialty restoration shops in the US.
