8/74 should have started production of the 280Z for North America. The L28E was late getting though development and EPA testing/certification and wasn't ready for production until late 12/74. The production lines and suppliers were all ready with the 280Z body as of 08/74.. so the 280Z body was put into production 08/74.. but then equipped with the EPA certified L26... thus the "late model 260Z".

FWIW,

Carl B.

Dang, if they did, it must have been late in the month or had to be 9/74 as mine is one of the last of the early ones. My 260Z is RLS30-044940, build date 8/74 with the small bumpers.

Yes the the car is mine. It has been in my family the past 36 years. The body kit is a MSA type ll. The turn signals are hidden in the grill area and are actually 1 inch pvc pipe with the bulb inserted into the end. Thanks for the compliments and good luck with yours.

for quite sometime I have been wondering how come there are not too many threads about the 260 here is my chance my car has a 9/73 manufacture date and RLS30-003099, and the small bumpers confirm it as an early 260!ROFLROFL

So it looks like approx. 2000 cars a month since mine is 8-73 and #1276 Course we don't know what day so that could throw the numbers way off:) Say between 2 and 4 thousand:classic:

I got parts in the mail today from Blackdragon:D Moustache bar bushings, swaybar endlinks, intake gasket:D Still waiting on intake stud kit and 5/8" fuel line wheel cyl. brake lines. I am gonna be busy.
