Welcome to the site Tiffanie! Nice to see some teenagers have good taste in cars, unlike my niece who likes the Nissan Cube.:stupid:I like that shade of yellow (919 I believe).

That 919 Sunshine Yellow is my favorite color on a 240-Z.

But my vision must be failing; that looks more like 904 Kilimanjaro White to

me. Tough to tell with the black interior, since both colors came with black

interior. Although I would say that since the white seems to have had more

blue interiors than black, that would be the more unusual combination.

Nice catch though, Tiffi, sorry you beat me to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All Z Best,.........................Kathy & Rick

BTW it would also be interesting to learn whether your car was built in 10/70

or 11/70. You can find out on the data plate on the driver side door jamb.

Mike, I'm gonna say late 10/70 if not real early 11/70'. My 71 was a 12775 and I think it was a 10/70.

Ya'll should let her know that it's a Seies 1 240Z, the more sought after Z. I'd say Yellow 919.

Tiffanie, GREAT FIND!!. Low to almost no rust is a catch for sure. Straight body, easy fix on the interior as one of our Site supporters is MSA or Motorsport Auto in Orange California. They have your carpet kit, seat upholstry, and most of the little hard to find parts you may find yourself needing.

Do you mind if we ask how much you got her for?

Welcome and use the SEARCH button as almost everything you need to know has been written about.

Dave

Thank you all for the welcomes!

I'm honestly not sure what to think of the Nissan Cube, I drive by a Nissan dealership everyday and I enjoy seeing the 370z and I like style of the cube's windows... but something always brings a sneer to my face when I see them.

I've learned a lot already from these forums, and it's definitely got a wealth of information!

Right now we don't have any concrete plans in place, we've bounced around the idea of doing a restoration but if we did we'd want it to be close to complete as we can go. We have the resources to save a lot of money on labor so it's a thought.

My thought on getting a z was to modify it a bit, keep true to the original looks and feel but not 100% original. It'd be too much of a shame in my mind to modify this car so that's out of the picture. But at the same time we've even considered selling it to someone who would do right by the car. We've gotten some offers, but nothing I think I'd sell for.

Like I said though, nothing concrete and I think I fall a little more in love with her every time I sit in the drivers seat and daydream!! (I'm such a girl:tapemouth)

When I looked at the plate on the doorjamb I'm almost positive it said 10/70. I'll definitely get some more pictures on Monday though. I was actually gonna get some pictures of under the hood.. but umm. I had a blonde moment and couldn't figure out how get past the safety. I felt so dumb when my dad showed me, I tried to move it every which way but the right way.

I really love the white z's, they have a certain class to them when painted white.. but this car is yellow for sure. Here's a couple pictures of the Warranty book/card.

It's actually still got the Norberg dealership license plate frame on it.

I actually did a lot of searching on this forum before and determined it was a Series 1, I think I talked about the car non-stop for about 2 months. Erm, not in front of my mom though! She still doesn't know about it hahaha. I just about know every nook and cranny of the car, even if I don't know the names or what's what. At least when it comes to interior, I know nothing about mechanical stuff.

The drivers side window trim on the interior is broken, and the console area is a bit cracked. But other then that along with new carpet and seats everything is pretty much in 'like new' condition. Headliner is great, I was actually really surprised, everything in the back is in great condition.

It even has the original jack behind the seats with the jack handle in a pouch. The paint on the handle hasn't even been scratched. A lot of it looks just as good as my friend's brand new car. Even the seat belts look new. It just needs to be cleaned!

Erm, we had a 260z and a 280z briefly and their interiors were absolutely trashed. That's why I'm in so much awe of this car! I bet it's nothing new to you guys, please ignore my amazement LOL.

I'll try to get some better pictures on Monday for sure.

Oh yea, about the Dash. It actually has about 4 or 5 semi long cracks in the middle. Not sure what we're gonna do about that, finding and getting a uncracked dash seems like paying a lot of money for something that will probably eventually crack anyways. If we could find one!

Edit: Oh yea, price. Umm, kinda embarrassed to say. But it only put a 500 dollar dent in our pockets, I paid half of that. It was a real lucky find.

Well you got a great deal. You sound like you love the car, hows your dad at mechanics? The factory service manual is very good in helping you work on the car and their are a lot of Z people, and specialist that would help in your area on top of this site. How in the engine compartment, driveline . . ., the mechanics of the car?

Beside their is a sight for chick with Zs, and local Z clubs, you never know you might get into mechanics. Many places pay more for a female mechanic, women fell more comfortable and less likely to get ripped off with a female mechanic than a male.

You got a steal for a very original car. Having the warranty book and card is quite a find! These cars in nice original condition are getting harder and harder to find. It will increase in value the most if you keep it original including the original color.

Good luck and welcome to the club!

Great find, Tiffanie! Only $500.00?.... that is an absolutely incredible price!

It looks very solid and judging from the pictures, it does appear to be pretty rust-free. Only in California are you going to find a 240Z like yours for such a steal of a price.

Realistically, if it's truly as solid as it appears, even though the car doesn't run, it's probably worth at least five times what you paid for it. In the Midwest and on the East Coast, it would probably go for even more than that.

Good luck with your project and welcome!

Great score, Tiffanie! My recommendation is to simply get the car in safe, driveable condition and enjoy it for awhile. Once you get it out on the open road any thoughts of parting with it will vanish, I'm sure. Take your time and decide what you want it to be: a nice driver, a show car or something in between. You could start with small things, a new carpet kit, maybe re-upholster the seats. Hopefully you can talk your dad into a little body & paint work! No matter what you decide to do, it sure looks like you have a real solid Z car to start with there!

Wow, that car is a gem. Looks like original seats and original radio. Body looks great as well. Only off item that I can see are the rims, but that can be easily remedied. If motor is original (and I am betting it is) and the frame rails are good, that car is worth some descent cash, $3-4K minimum; $6-8K if the frame rails and motor are in good shape. Would make a wonderful restoration project.

Tiffanie, If you replace anything, do not throw any of the parts away. You would be amazed what they go for. That AM radio goes for $150-$400 on e-bay. Even old braided radiator hoses go for a chunk. Keep the spare tire as well, those are rare. Your car is a major score at $500. May even have been a good buy at $5000 if the undercarriage and motor are good.

Congrats and take care of that baby.

Best Regards,

Rich
