*Sigh* Seventeen years ago, the guy at the Nissan parts counter told me that a new dash was still available for only $825 or so. Of course, back then, that was like $5,000 to me.

Today I was picking up my car from Eddie Radatz's shop in Kennesaw. He's cleaning up his shop some and getting parts ready to sell. Well, he showed me a new dash, 68100-E8800, in the box. He said that a customer got it for a restoration many years ago, but the dash was slightly discolored. The customer arranged to return it to the Nissan dealer for another dash. The dealer couldn't return the dash to the regional warehouse, so it sat around for a while. Finally, the dealership was clearing out some stuff, and gave Eddie the dash.

I told Eddie that he should put it on eBay, but he's not computer literate. If you're doing a restoration and need a dash, it could be worth your while to give him a call. Just look up Radatz Motorsports online if you want to contact him.

Which 240z? There are three kinds.

My parts CD shows the earliest dash panel as #68100-E4600, followed by

#68100-E8800 both interchangeable, newer to former and visa versa up

to 06/72. I am guessing the earliest dash changed to the #68100-E8800

with the 1972 model year.

From zhome.com: the dash design for the 1970 & 71 model year cars did not have the indentation for the "Hazard Light Switch Position Label". By the parts CD, this would seem to be 68100-E4600.

Again from zhome.com: The 72 design did have a "cross shaped" indentation, pressed into the vinyl cover, for the decal that shows the "ON" and "OFF" position for the hazard light switch My guess would be that this is the part number in question - 68100-E8800.

And lastly from zhome.com: For 1973 a lighted, push/pull type Hazard Light Switch, replaced the older style toggel switch, and the indent for the ON/OFF decal was eliminated along with the decal itself. This would seem to coincide with the third dash part number listed on the parts CD - 68100-N3300 The blurry print seems to indicate that this part number is from 07/72.

The link provided in the first post doesn't make a differentiation between any of the three dash possibilities, it just says "(To Jul.-'73)". My bet is on this dash having the cross indentation as seen in the post Series 1, pre-'73 dashes. If I were looking for a dash, I'd want to ask the seller to verify based on these descriptions. Hey, wait, I am looking for a dash...damn, I'm gonna call Radatz Motorsports tomorrow!! Thanks for the tip SteveJ. :classic:
