Seal up or find a rear spoiler?

My 1983 280zx is missing its spoiler. I don't know what its suppose to look like. Any pictures? or seal up mounting holes?

There are several different spoilers available for the s130, though to my knowledge the only spoiler that ever came stock with the car was a whale tail style (the rarely seen ZXR had this for homologation purposes).

Could the holes be from an after market wing that was installed by a previous owner?

Could Be. I dont know what the original spoiler would look like. There are four threaded holes on the rear deck lid.

Four threaded holes in the deck lid may have been for hatch window louvers.(?)

IMO fill the holes/run no spoiler-keep the beautiful original lines.

I have the opposite issue. I'm about to drill holes on my rear hatch. It kills me to do it, but I really like the look of the BRE spoiler to compliment my front air dam (plus I'm crossing my fingers it will help solve my fume issue).

Can anyone suggest any precautions I can do once I drill the holes? Treat the drilled out holes with some Rust-Oleum spray paint? I'm thinking of using rubber washers to seal it up properly with the backside's nut.

The spoiler probably won't help the fume issue(I've been there). I had a rotten tail light gasket/seal on the driver side of a 240z and a brittle hatch seal on a 280zx that needed replacing to stop the "gas chamber" effect.

Do everything you can to stave off the rust under the spoiler. I just bought a replacement hatch that had on of those aftermarket whale tails on it. They didn't do anything to treat the holes and it was BAD. Four 1/4 holes had turned into jaggid half dollar-sized ones. I like Loctite rust neutralizer then rust-oleum primer AND paint applied with a small brush or Qtip.

I have also coated screws and rivets w/ roofing mastic(or silicone) before inserting into the hole. It will displace moisture and work as a sealant.
