Hey all, need a little help. Just got my first 240z, been sitting for 20 years. Got it started, then replaced condensor, points, cap and rotor. And now i have no spark from the coil. Has 12v out the coil from secondary, but drops to about 9v when turning over. The points open/gapped correctly, its timed correctly. Could it be resistor? Condensor wiring issue? What would cause no request for spark?

Thanks

Gave that a try, and tried replacing it with old one, but no success. It may be either the wire connecting points to condensor or wire from condensor to coil that is causing the problem. Points receive spark from coil, so no voltage there

The points ground the coil primary circuit so that it can charge up the secondary circuit then break the circuit when they open, causing the secondary circuit to discharge to the plugs. Primary is the two lugs on the coil, secondary is the main terminal in the middle. If you disconnect the coil negative, you can check for continuity through the points to ground, with an ohm-meter, when the points are open and closed. Then you'll at least know the points are working.

soo turned out to be the wire connecting points to condensor was faulty, and that base point where the two connect was gunked up. should be good to go now, thanks for all the help! Im sure you all will be hearing from me again real soon
