kenz240z Posted February 3, 2011 Share #4 Posted February 3, 2011 Clean all electrical connectors with Deoxit (or similar contact cleaner). Repair any wiring that is damaged. Inspect the heater core and related hoses/clamps for signs of leakage or deterioration, replace as necessary. Clean and lube all actuating cables associated with the heat/AC system, these are the cables that connect to the levers on the heater control panel. Dobber Posted February 4, 2011 Share #6 Posted February 4, 2011 Yes, the foam seals in your heater box will be shot, but i am sure you have seen that by now. Perfect time to re and re all heater box components. When I took mine apart, the core looked perfect, but there was no way I was putting it back together without having it checked. Sure enough there was a pin hole leak that needed to be soldered. I can't think of anything more disheartening than to get the whole car back together and then to have the heater core leak on the boss's brand new shoes first time out. Dobber Posted February 4, 2011 Share #7 Posted February 4, 2011 One more thing to look for. The heater to cowl air intake snorkel could be rusted to the point of leaking. Perfect time to repair that nasty thing.
