I took a pic of my most precious Z papers, i didnt include all in this picture as most of them were from smog tests etc. I'd like to know more about few things

What is the purpose of that Cashier's temporary receipt? Is that given on purchase? There was something about temporary insurance on the backside.

Even more mysterious is the red paper with some asian markings. Is this paper from Japan, if so, what does it read?

Found out that Pete O'Flaherty was the sales representative who sold this Z back in 72, if someone knows him, say my regards :D

I can't see what you are referring to in your picture, but it sounds like it was something given by the dealer when the car was sold, maybe to use for registration or insurance purposes? I assume this car was sold new in the US? If so, licensing and registration documents are different for each state and change over time.

Yes the mysterious red paper with "asian markings" is from Japan. It is the paper label from an original can of touch-up paint. I am attaching a picture of a can of paint that came with my white car.

Pete? Sure everyone in the US knows Pete. Great guy. I'll give him your regards ROFL.

Erkki, In Colorado that temporary cashier's reciept is for a temporary license sticker that goes in the window until you get new license plates. The one you are showing looks just like the Colorado one. Hope this clears up your confusion.

Cheers, Mike

Hahaha, it was meant as a joke :D So the can of touch-up paint came with every Z car?

I believe Mike is like Kathy and me, in that every time he bought a 240Z,

it was older (lower VIN#) than the previous ones. I conclude that even

though the can of white paint came in the early (11/69) 240Z when Mike

bought the car, it must have been an "aftermarket purchase" left there

by the seller.

I had never seen a CAN of paint come WITH the purchase of a car,

despite having been in sales, then running parts dept, for Bob Sharp back

in the '70s. The only paint I remember us carrying was touchup paint in

little square bottles about the size of your thumb, (like a nail polish bottle)

which was definitely an aftermarket purchase thru the PartZ Dept.

If I knew how to use a digital camera to transport some images over to

this posting, I would show you a few.

All Z Best,.................................Kathy & Rick

Rick,

I don't know if the can of touch-up paint I have came with the purchase of the car, but I do know it is an original Nissan touch-up paint can. It is listed in the USA Nissan Parts Catalog starting in the first 11/69 edition. So, it is not "aftermarket" paint.

The touch-up paint containers changed over time. When I bought my 1972 it came with a spray can and small container of touch up paint. Both still labeled "Datsun", so this was before the name change to Nissan in the early 80's for the US. Note the Nissan part number, so these are not aftermarket either.
