7 inch cd touch deck

Words of advice:

Put the year and model of your car in your posts. Better yet, put them in your signature. You can find that under the UserCP menu.

Take the center console off and look at the dimensions. Take pictures while you're at it. The more pertinent information you include in your posts, the better off you are.

Are you familiar with car stereo terminology? Most car stereos are referred to as single DIN and double DIN. I'm not sure when that standardization came out, but of course, our Z cars were not designed with those types of stereos in mind. Many of us have modified the center console to fit single DIN stereos.

I recently fitted my car with a single DIN stereo that only has AM/FM, but it comes with front AUX input, USB, and possibly even SD card. Since the music is still digital format, the sound quality is pretty much the same as a CD. You can re-record a thumb drive. It can hold much more music than a CD, and you don't have to worry about it melting inside your stereo on a hot day.

its a 73 240z and i dont mind modifing the dash at all and yeah im not really all hip to the sterio lango, im also wondering if it will all plug up or if im going to have to buy some special adapters for the wiring too ?

and the sterio deck is a two din just looked that up

but i am willing to get a single din just cause i thought it would be cool to put the touch screen in there since its like an old school car and i have never had a car with touch screen

Double DIN will not fit. Nor will any head unit "plug-up". You're going to have to do some wiring (I like soliderless connectors or crimps) for power, ground speakers, keep alive and if used, switched output to an external amp.

Very true. To fit a double-DIN you'd need to gut and re-engineer a replacement for the HVAC controls to make room.

You must mean either '7 inch dvd touch deck' or '7 inch lcd touch deck' but either way if it's double din, it's going to take some work. I've have seen it done, however.

Im looking to do the same on my 78 z im looking at a single din 7 inch touch in mine. Well my brother is going to do this for me while im gone plus im going to put a back up cam on it as well. Im just trying to find a way to keep the antenna the same probly find a switch to use.

I have to admit that my philosophy is to go cheap on the car stereo since it is exposed and vulnerable. I'm not such an audiophile that I have to have a top notch system in my car. Plus, it creates less of a worry that someone is going to break into my car, causing me to have to spend money to repair it.

Any updates on anyone adding a 7 inch touchscreen? single din or double din. I was thinking about doing something similar but have no idea what model stereo to use or what modifications might be necessary. Pics would be great too, especially if you had to modify.
