Hi, my name is Marco and I just purchased a 1972 240Z. I've wanted an S30 for as long as I can remember and when I found this one for a deal, I couldn't resist buying it. This is a new experience for me since all I have worked on is fuel injected, late 80s to early 90s cars, but I don't plan on going too crazy with the S30 anyway. I plan on refreshing the old worn parts and getting it nice and drivable, then doing the body and paint and just keeping it around for nice weekends.

The car is original as far as I know, and has less rust than I expected for the price I got it for. The L24 is still in there, and runs pretty well. The previous owner rebuilt it about 40k miles ago and shaved the head for high compression, put a cam in, put a header on it, etc. The car doesn't like to run under 2500 rpm when cold though and sometimes misses while driving at low rpm even when warm. The body also rattles everywhere and is missing a lot of interior pieces. I think the doors are completely missing whatever keeps the windows on their tracks because those just shake everywhere. All the weatherstripping is in a pile in the hatch so I need to reinstall that ASAP haha!

All in all, I think it will make a nice project and I'm hoping to lurk around here and learn about my new purchase.

Hey, Marco, nice to see you're getting into Zs. Your car looks pretty good from the pic, though you'll likely find other issues in addition to what you've already discovered. Keep your end goal in mind and don't get discouraged. Use the search function here liberally, but if you don't find what you're looking for, please, don't hesitate to ask. Glad to have you about.
