Thanks everyone for the comments

Even though this car is not a low vin 5***. I've put so much time and effort to bring this back to life. we towed the car home with my dad's truck n his tow bar :) to save money, what do u know after we stopped for some gas we realized that the car's caliper was on fire!!! the whole rotor turned red with green flames :0 we manage to go ahead and towed it home anyway hahaha. after we got it home, immediately my friend spray the rotor with water, he sprayed for 5min until it stopped. after that we pushed the car into the garage to take a closer look at what we have to deal with. Here are some of the pics...

here are some of the restoration procedures. my dad n i we went to Pick N Pull that was 100 miles away from where we're it was worth it. We found a donor car with rust free battery holder, we cut some of the donor car's metal pieces including metal around the gas cap. Here are some of the pics.

Man, I think I would have had to take the whole doner car home with me. There is alot of good stuff in those pic.'s!

I wish you success, and am looking forward to see pic.'s of your progress. Wish I would have found this site before I finished doing the majority of the repairs needed to make my car streetable. That was mostly turning wrenches though.

Tell us, does she run?

"My grandparents generation used to call that making a silk purse out of a sow's ear".....My Grandparents would say falling into a pile of 5HIT and come up smelling like a Rose. My Project 3/72 is way worse than that. And I agree with 5THHoresman. I would have taken the whole car home and then disassemble it. The only return you should hope to get is many many cruising miles. Son't give up on it and Good Luck!

I know alot of people speak of how important it is to buy the best condition car you can afford. That a mechanically sound rust free car is a superior deal than a non-running rusty project. I agree with one caveat...

An unmolested car with all original parts in place is a goldmine. Some might just use her for a parts car but she's still a goldmine. The very idea that the wiring schematics in the FSM actually still apply to your car in whole is very sweet. No hacked up wiring? No strange jumpers to no where? It's nirvana. No speaker holes cut into interior panels? No strange aftermarket parts bolted to her? Sweet.

My car on the other hand. I will have alot more money into her than I ever intended just replacing missing interior parts. Sorting out strange wiring. Figuring out what all the PO's did to her over the years.

You atleast don't apparently have all that to worry about.

Good luck and have fun :)

Here is another way of looking at this project. I have an extensive rebuild going on, I have replaced all metal w/i 6" of the ground. Gotta love Colorado roads. If you have a three in square hole in your floor board, you will replace the floor. If you have a 1 foot square hole in the floor you will replace the floor. To me unless the car is a complete basket case, fix the usual panels. paint and enjoy. Very few of us will ever get back what we have invested in our cars. That is why fixing old cars is a hobby and very few can use it as a way of life. I already figured that I will have 30K in mine by the time I have it how I want it. Enjoy life, you only do it once.

Here are come brake down of what I've invested in the car:

-Car .....................$1200

-Pick n Pull.............$80

-Mobil 1.................$35

-Antifreeze.............$15

-4 Pistons Cal.........$32

-Weatherstrips........$170

-Head Lights...........$40

-Rear brake kit........$30

-A/C rebuilt kit........$20

-Por 15..................$60

Total.....................$1682

I forgot to mention after we got the car home we tried to start the car...we replace the battery from my Acura and ready to put on armor suit...1st we tried to start the car on its ownbut it didn't work...what do u know I came up with the idea of using brake cleaner to spray some extra juice directly to the fuel line waaallla it started running 1st time since 1990 wow what a shocker :0

But anyway here are some of my working progress.

1st- I treated everything with Rust Remover from O'reilly

2nd- After it has been treated I than put on 3 layers of Por 15

3rd- This is the first time my dad and i are trying the weld, we've a lot of ground to make up with our welding tech but at least the metal stick together :)
