Ben's Z Posted April 10, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 10, 2011 I just bought my 77 280z yesterday and the brakes are a little touchy. If you need to press the brake pedal quickly it grabs all of a sudden. If you slowly get in to the pedal it seems fine. The previous owner said he put on new calipers, rotors, pads, shoes wheel cylinders, drums and master cylinder. It looks like the original brake booster. Anyone else have any thoughts? Looks like reman is my only option. Any other ideas or suggestions would be great. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/39173-brake-booster/ Share on other sites
d240zx2 Posted April 10, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 10, 2011 Congrats, Ben! I would think a bad booster would result in brakes that required a hard pedal to stop. Is there a bell crank in the mechanical system (between the pedal and booster) that could have been reversed? Just guessing... Zedyone_kenobi Posted April 14, 2011 Share #3 Posted April 14, 2011 There are ways to check the brake booster function. Check out your FSM and they give you ways to diagnose if it is your booster. I did this finally only to find out mine was bad. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/39173-brake-booster/#findComment-352764 Share on other sites
