Zedrally Posted April 20, 2011 Share #13 Posted April 20, 2011 You should have been "true" to the Zed cause and used the rear of a S-30....... Scotauto Posted April 20, 2011 Author Share #14 Posted April 20, 2011 I haven't managed to go through the boxes of bits in the car yet so if I'm lucky the original lights are there. If not I'll be looking for a set of rear lights and all the bits that go with them. Alternatively I could just cut the car in half and make it into a caravan ! ChrisZ Posted April 20, 2011 Share #15 Posted April 20, 2011 Jason, except of the tail lights you will need the tail light finish panels (3 pcs.), is the car Euro or US spec.? you will also need to figure out if the stoick harness is there.Photos, photos and more photos Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/39300-what-are-these-tail-lights-from/?page=2#findComment-353394 Share on other sites
Scotauto Posted April 20, 2011 Author Share #16 Posted April 20, 2011 I've had a better look at the car today and there doesn't seem to be any modification to the inner side where the rear lights are :-) The rear bumper is also there just covered in loads of filler and the front bumper was inside the car, along with an extra cylinder head and the three carbs, plus other diverse stuff. The front seats are in good shape also. I'm going to have to do a load of welding but hey, I'm used to that ! the rear suspension is stuck and that's why it looks so low are the rear. Anyway I always strip any project cars I have previously restored down to a bare shell and this won't be an exception. It's US Spec. and regarding the wiring I'll probably fit a new harness. P.S sorry didn't make the skype last night my son was just not going to sleep ;-) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/39300-what-are-these-tail-lights-from/?page=2#findComment-353431 Share on other sites
Scotauto Posted April 20, 2011 Author Share #17 Posted April 20, 2011 forgot to mention there is a badge on the front which says Quadruple Crown Safari rally 79-80 Datsun and another badge which is a green four leaf clover. Any thoughts? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/39300-what-are-these-tail-lights-from/?page=2#findComment-353439 Share on other sites
ChrisZ Posted April 20, 2011 Share #18 Posted April 20, 2011 Good for you it's a US spec car, it won't be that hard to find some wire pig tails and tail lights, whenever you got time, log on to skype, if i'm online we can chat about it. Willoughby Z Posted April 20, 2011 Share #19 Posted April 20, 2011 forgot to mention there is a badge on the front which says Quadruple Crown Safari rally 79-80 Datsun and another badge which is a green four leaf clover. Any thoughts? The clover badge is barely visible in the "Intro..." thread photos. Perhaps better photos for the resident historians to examine. I owned a couple of British cars, always pre-owned, and they always seemed to be adorned with grill badges. Earned and acquired perhaps, other times, a "coolness/hip" factor, like bumper stickers, in my opinion. Had an MG Midget with an North Pole Expedition medallion... Any thoughts? It's a badge that's earn't generally for the vehicle by virtue of it entering & finishing a Rally. They are held in high value by Rally crews as the event would be a highly regarded rally.Event directors of high profile events will have these manufactured and presented to the successful entrants.Generally, now-a-days (switching to old rally fart mode) they're presented to any finishing crew, leaving the option of the driver embellishing the front of the car with it and the navigator to mount it on his bragging board.
