Moto Posted May 12, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 12, 2011 I bought a 240z with a 280Z engine. It came with a points style dizzy. This plate is warped and not letting the dizzy sit correctly on the dizzy shaft. Where can I buy one? Substitute another part? ANYTHING!!! The weekend is almost upon us and my Z is dead. Does MSA have this part? Thanks in advance. Zforce Posted May 13, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 13, 2011 It's called a breaker plate Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/39553-what-is-the-official-name-of-this-plate-and-where-can-i-buy-one/#findComment-355553 Share on other sites
JLPurcell Posted May 13, 2011 Share #3 Posted May 13, 2011 Check with Courtesy Nissan parts department. I don't know if this part is sold separately or if you will have to find a new or used distributor to get it. jlp Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/39553-what-is-the-official-name-of-this-plate-and-where-can-i-buy-one/#findComment-355559 Share on other sites
sblake01 Posted May 13, 2011 Share #4 Posted May 13, 2011 (edited) It's called a breaker plateNope. That's a distributor mount plate. The breaker plate is inside the distributor where the points mount. Doubt that MSA would have one. That part shows as 'not for sale' in the parts microfiche. Your best bet might be that one of the members here has one. JohnnyO Posted May 13, 2011 Share #8 Posted May 13, 2011 Aren't there any junk yards near by? You are in SoCal, center of the scrap Z universe. You are in SoCal, center of the scrap Z universe.I have spent the past two days going through junk yards. When you find Zs they are missing the dizzy and the SUs. Just the dizzy on the 260Zs. jwtaylor Posted May 13, 2011 Share #12 Posted May 13, 2011 What am I missing here? It's warped but how? And why can't you flatten it back out, looks like a flat piece of steel to me. Hit it with a big hammer! After all its already warped and needs to be replaced. Heat it up red hot and flatten.
