TomoHawk Posted June 3, 2011 Share #1 Posted June 3, 2011 On my '78, I found a horizontal slot, about 30x120mm, on the lower back panel above the exhaust tip. It's behind the bumper, so I never noticed it until the bumper was removed. Does anyone know what it's for? thxZ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/39784-mystery-slot-above-exhaust-tip/ Share on other sites
240260280z Posted June 3, 2011 Share #2 Posted June 3, 2011 Maybe heat from exhaust passes through to dry behind bumper and slow rusting. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/39784-mystery-slot-above-exhaust-tip/#findComment-357707 Share on other sites
JLPurcell Posted June 3, 2011 Share #3 Posted June 3, 2011 This has been discussed in a earlier thread. I will see if I can locate it. jlp Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/39784-mystery-slot-above-exhaust-tip/#findComment-357720 Share on other sites
TomoHawk Posted June 4, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted June 4, 2011 I figured it was just a way to keep the muffler cool, but there might be another reason.
