Montezuma Posted September 18, 2011 Share #2 Posted September 18, 2011 All you need is a bodyshop to put new floorpans in for you. Zedd Finding makes excellent pans. ezzzzzzz Posted September 18, 2011 Share #3 Posted September 18, 2011 Elaborate. Are the floor pans going, framerails or both? Medphys Posted September 19, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted September 19, 2011 Had the frame replaced, it is the rear axels, front end, etc that is showing signs of rust. I need someone reliable to give me an accurate description of what needs to be done. FastWoman Posted September 20, 2011 Share #7 Posted September 20, 2011 If it's body work you need, I'd get the work done closer to home than Tidewater Z. It's not like there's anything unusual about working on a Z's body, vs. any other body. I don't know who's good in Chesapeake, but on my side, I can highly recommend Auto Haus -- nice work, very reasonably priced. That's probably where I'll take my Z when I get around to some small rust patches. 240260280z Posted September 20, 2011 Share #8 Posted September 20, 2011 Floor pans should be done one side at a time with the transmission mount in place and reference measurements made of the tunnel to rocker spacing before cutting. One of the priorities is to ensure the transmission tunnel stays centered and does not get smaller. ezzzzzzz Posted September 20, 2011 Share #9 Posted September 20, 2011 Tidewater Z could perform the work although it isn't their typical line of service. There a plenty of body shops around, not all of them good. Just because they own a welder and some body tools doesn't make them proficient or knowledgeable. Get references from clients that have had similar work performed. Two places that come to mind for great service is Fanthom Auto Works at 25th and Hampton Blvd in Norfolk and European Body Werks at 3961 South Military Highway heading towards Bowers Hill in Chesapeake. Fanthom performs top notch repair. European repaired my 240Z when a blown out tire beat the crap out of the wheel well. That repair was undetectable when completed. myzblubyu Posted September 26, 2011 Share #11 Posted September 26, 2011 You can call Tidewater Z at (757) 868-6753 and they might be able to send you in the right direction. They recomended a body shop off I64 on 17 in Yorktown when my '72 240z received some storm damage. I can't remember the name of the shop... Good luck...
