uga81 Posted September 25, 2011 Share #1 Posted September 25, 2011 What year was the first for the green exterior and brown exterior? Love that combo and don't really want to rebuild one to it, I'd rather have production. Thanks for you help in advance!Jeff Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/40887-what-year-was-the-first-for-green-ex-and-brown-in/ Share on other sites
cbudvet Posted September 25, 2011 Share #2 Posted September 25, 2011 Hi Jeff,The first year was technically 1969. Some of the first cars produced had the green exterior and butterscotch interior. This color combo was also available for the other years the 240z was produced. You just need to look and you can find this combo. Good luck.carl Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/40887-what-year-was-the-first-for-green-ex-and-brown-in/#findComment-367293 Share on other sites
GreenZZZ Posted September 25, 2011 Share #3 Posted September 25, 2011 Zhome has the history. http://zhome.com/History/colors.html I'm partial to the 113 avocado green. Very Japanese 70's... The 907 Racing Green is very dark similar to European greens. uga81 Posted September 26, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted September 26, 2011 Thanks guys! That is comforting as I am looking to get original and definitely 240Z and, just maybe, first 6 month production of the 260Z.Jeff Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/40887-what-year-was-the-first-for-green-ex-and-brown-in/#findComment-367357 Share on other sites
Kathy & Rick Posted January 7, 2012 Share #5 Posted January 7, 2012 Hi, Jeff:I'm sure the other guys have it right, that you meant to say "brown INTERIOR,"alternately called tan, butterscotch, and probably a few more. However, the #114 brown EXTERIOR didn't come in till the 1972 model year (VIN #48691 is the earliest I currently show with #114 brown with butterscotch interior).Getting on to the green cars, now: the #907 Racing Green was one of theoriginal colors in 1969, as Carl implied above. In fact, Bob Sharp's first 240ZC/P race car had originally been that color when being the first 240Z to beshown in 1969 (it was the car that had the roof dented in when a model sat on it at the Toronto show). That car was (and still is) VIN #00006; if you ever happen to see "ancient" archive videos of an all-red 240Z sporting racing number 33, that is the same car. And later as the famous National Champion red-white-and-blue car, you are looking at that same car. Chris Wenzel's #00026 and #00027 are both green on tan, while our own 1969, #00171, is green on black; so you can see that both color combinations went all the way back to the beginning. The #907 Racing Green ended after the 1971 model year; #42919 mfr 8/71is the last of that color I currently have recorded. The #113 Metallic Green (which we usually used to call "avocado") started with the 1972 model year;#47431 mfr 9/71 is the earliest I show in that color.Hope this is helpful to you.All Z Best,.............................Kathy & Rick Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/40887-what-year-was-the-first-for-green-ex-and-brown-in/#findComment-376612 Share on other sites

Reverend Posted June 14, 2012 Share #7 Posted June 14, 2012 I looked in to the zhome, and i wish someone could make listing for paint codes used in european market. I know one 72 from here that had 907 racing green paint with brown interior but was later painted blue.
