Travel'n Man Posted October 12, 2011 Share #1 Posted October 12, 2011 Show us your seats I have tried to keep my car as era correct as possible - but now I need a little comfort and support with my seats - I'm really tired of going around the twistys and twisting all over my 39 year old seats (newly re-foamed and upholstered). They look great, but that is about all. It's time for an upgrade! Please show us your seats - what brand they are - why you like them/how they sit - if they came out of another car please list the car and year that they came out of in case somebody likes them they can know what to pick and pull. Also let us know what they are finished with. Let us also know how difficult it was to install - custom bracket to attach our sliders or just bolt on.There are may great brands out their with many different pricetags, Recaro - Corbeau -Sparco-Corbeau- OMP - Bride - Momo- just to name a few. Some are fixed and some are reclining. From my research some of the seats that other folks have added to their Z cars are............S2000, Miata, 300ZX, 280ZX, Integra GSR, Honda CRX, Corvette C5.From my research it seems that the S30 seats are:21" wide22" length19" seat back width29" seat back length35" total height w/bracketAnyway - thanks in advance and get some pics and descriptions up if you have made this modification to your S30 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/41048-show-me-your-seats/ Share on other sites

30 Ounce Posted October 12, 2011 Share #3 Posted October 12, 2011 http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?40784-2011-What-did-you-do-to-with-your-S30-today&p=373544&viewfull=1#post373544Pain to install. Firm but comfortable. They sit about 2" higher than stock but I'm going to see if an upholstry shop can remove some of the padding & fix a cople of worn areas. tlorber Posted October 12, 2011 Share #8 Posted October 12, 2011 I also put in Miata seats. The pic above is much clearer than mine so I won't bother posting. I spray died mine black, since most of them are a faded grey by now. They hold you in place SO much better than stock and the dimensions are very close-slightly narrower than stock.I used the rails off the Miata seats (cut off the ends and re-drilled). The driver's side will drop into existing holes. Passenger side of the car had to be drilled to accomodate the rail width. I also added a 1" aluminum shim in the rear to compensate for the deep bucket of the seat. They look like they were made for the car. $44.00 from the wrecking yard, 2x$8.00 for the spray die and a couple of bolts and you're good to go. Duffman Posted October 12, 2011 Share #9 Posted October 12, 2011 (edited) 91 Honda CRX seats, recovered and hole in headrest filled in. Very comfortable and provides good support to back and thighs. Removed CRX bracket and attached to Z bracket with help from spacers and 2 1 1/2" flat bar to attach to Z floor Edited October 12, 2011 by duffman Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/41048-show-me-your-seats/#findComment-369023 Share on other sites
psdenno Posted October 12, 2011 Share #10 Posted October 12, 2011 I upgraded to BMW seats which have far better lateral support that my original '71 Z seats. You're on your own for fabricating rails and mounting. I used a spare set of factory Z seat rails and bolted together the mounting hardware to mate the rails to the seats from flat stock and angle iron available at the local Big Box hardware store. Details can be seen at:http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/album.php?albumid=357Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/41048-show-me-your-seats/#findComment-369026 Share on other sites
ta240 Posted October 12, 2011 Share #11 Posted October 12, 2011 (edited) I also added a 1" aluminum shim in the rear to compensate for the deep bucket of the seat. I used the rails from the Z seats and drilled a new mounting hole in one end to bolt it to the bottom of the seats. The outside rail needed spacers to get it level and the above tip for shimming the rear is good. The first time I didn't do that and then you really sink back into the seats.I like them because they have way better support than the stock seats but still have a similar profile.Trevorhttp://240z.me Edited October 12, 2011 by ta240 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/41048-show-me-your-seats/#findComment-369029 Share on other sites
