motorman7 Posted October 19, 2011 Share #14 Posted October 19, 2011 Has anybody installed any Recaro's...........if so' date=' got any pics?[/quote']Here's my Recaro's. The seat rails attach nicely to the Z sheet metal. They are also tall people friendly, as I am 6' 3" and fit comfortably. Plus, I think they look pretty cool. plutovitch Posted October 19, 2011 Share #15 Posted October 19, 2011 Hey mototman7, when you say 'the seat rails attach nicely to the Z sheet metal' have you bolted the rails directly to the floor?(ie. removed the existing incar seat mounting points) I have the same seats but @ 6' my head is just below the roof. Would like to lower them as much as possiblecheersps. good looking car Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/41048-show-me-your-seats/?page=2#findComment-369604 Share on other sites
ZCurves Posted October 19, 2011 Share #16 Posted October 19, 2011 Here are mine. MSA Leather and Foam. Now that they have been in the car (and Texas heat), the leather has relaxed and conforms nicely. Most of the wrinkles have gone. Had to adjust for height, but I am VERY pleased with them. The seat rails are low profile and mount the seat mounting base less than an inch above the existing mounts. The actual seat height that my butt sits on, is about 1 inch below the aluminum rail that is in the door jam (for reference) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/41048-show-me-your-seats/?page=2#findComment-369657 Share on other sites

I've heard that early mounts worked much better than the current ones.I am guessing they are older as the original cloth material was pretty worn out when I got them. Worn from decay rather than wear. I just recently had them re-upholstered. I will try and take pics of the rails in the next day or two and post them. TomoHawk Posted October 20, 2011 Share #20 Posted October 20, 2011 (edited) I got some seats from an Eclipse for my '78. The Eclipse seat is slightly higher so I can now get my elbow out the window (the factory seats make you feel like you're sitting on the floor) but now I need to duck slightly if I'm wearing a helmet. They were just slightly wider than factory, but everything fits nicely. I think they are good, decent (for cheap) seats for most uses.I had to file the holes on the support where it bolts to the seat bottom so the rail spacing matched the holes in the floor supports. I also used socket-head bolts for the back holes and stock bolts for the front. Powderkeg Posted October 21, 2011 Share #23 Posted October 21, 2011 Here's my 91 Honda CRX seats. I used the stock brackets and made a bracket with flat metal. They ride a little bit higher than the stock but they are a lot more comfortable. I like the lumbar adjustment. Now I have to decide what to do about the pair of Miata seats I have.
