manila58 Posted November 27, 2011 Share #1 Posted November 27, 2011 We have a 1983 280 ZX (naturally-aspirated) with about 180K miles on it, not currently running. It has a 5-speed stick, leather/embossed suede interior, electronic dash, T-tops. I needs restoration. The exhaust manifold has a crack and we have a replacement used part for it. It sounds like a throw-out bearing needs to be replaced. The clutch is new. Body is straight but needs paint. All the glass is intact and not leaking. The car is nearly all-original, including the wheels, and has always been in California. Can anyone give us a ballpark figure or what it's worth? Thanks everyone!-Louie Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/41484-83-280zx-whats-it-worth/ Share on other sites

5thhorsemann Posted November 27, 2011 Share #3 Posted November 27, 2011 Not much, there are running turbo cars in that condition going for around $1500, so I would put yours under a grand. manila58 Posted November 28, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted November 28, 2011 If it isn't running, how would you know what the throwout bearing sounds like?My son stopped driving it when a loud knocking sound was heard when the car was idling in neutral and the clutch was not engaged. A friend who knew Zs said it was likely the throwout bearing. esmit208 Posted November 28, 2011 Share #6 Posted November 28, 2011 I agree with 5TH. If it isn't running you are almost going to pay someone to come get it.
