AndysPlit Posted December 30, 2011 Share #1 Posted December 30, 2011 Are there any pointers to this procedure? I am hoping my Haynes manual at home has this in it. I heard that generally I need to pry off a couple bolts? Thanks! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/41783-about-to-remove-ignition/ Share on other sites
EScanlon Posted December 30, 2011 Share #2 Posted December 30, 2011 Not pry off, you'll have to notch them in order to use a straight screwdriver or use an awl to edge-hit the screw off. They're security screws and the heads have been snapped off, leaving a "blank" screw head. The simplest procedure is to use a Dremel tool to cut a notch in the head of the "blank" screw, then use your straight screwdriver to remove the screws (2).HTHE Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/41783-about-to-remove-ignition/#findComment-375814 Share on other sites
FastWoman Posted January 1, 2012 Share #3 Posted January 1, 2012 (edited) You can also use a bolt extractor bit. Just drill a little hole in the head, insert the bit, and turn. (It's not as easy as that, but if you have the bolt extractor set and not the dremel tool...)
