rcb280z Posted March 7, 2012 Share #13 Posted March 7, 2012 Hey guys, I need to replace my struts on my 77. I have eibach progressive springs. Will the Kyb GR-2 struts work on the lower springs? grantf Posted March 8, 2012 Author Share #14 Posted March 8, 2012 I will consider the eibach springs, I just don't have much money, but as my car sits pretty high right now I would not like to raise it further. I have stock size wheels. I don't whant to slam my car that's for sure, (I'm in my 40s not teens) but dropping it an inch is actually desirable. Cutting springs just does not seem right to me at least in that it looks like they would not "seat" properly. My car is a daily driver here in Seattle and the streets are maintained like crap.So Springs look like about $180 struts around $180 and bushings I am not sure yet what Nissan sells rubber for. Oiluj Posted March 8, 2012 Share #16 Posted March 8, 2012 That's one nice looking car! My car with the eigbach's sits about the same. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/42503-suspension-is-next-future-planning/?page=2#findComment-383330 Share on other sites
rcb280z Posted March 8, 2012 Share #17 Posted March 8, 2012 Hey cozye, I need to do some more modifying on the rear of my Z around where the "park bench" used to be. I'm going to order a 240 style bumper (new one) that fits better than what I have. Can you shoot any pics of the rear of your Z? Thanks. Sweet looking Z BTW! cozye Posted March 8, 2012 Share #18 Posted March 8, 2012 That's one nice looking car! My car with the eigbach's sits about the same. Thanks. I still have to clean up the engine compartment. It's "clean" and leak free, but it ran decent and I elected to put it off. Now it's bugging me with all of that efi wiring and ugly fuel rail etc.. I'll be putting a new motor in before long. grantf Posted March 8, 2012 Author Share #19 Posted March 8, 2012 See that looks like it's sitting about right to me. Lower than my car but but not looking like the underside would scrape over bumps, And no way do I wish to cut into the metal and flare the car. Flares are ok, just not my thing. So far The only place I can find the springs are MSA. grantf Posted March 8, 2012 Author Share #22 Posted March 8, 2012 If the Admin would like to combine threads, I would not have a problem as there is a crossover in inquiries.Right now I am just shopping around and as I am no expert, I want to get this right and not waste money (shipping etc). The question you asked in your thread now has me wondering about spring/strut compatibility. rcb280z Posted March 8, 2012 Share #23 Posted March 8, 2012 I just noticed, grantf, that cozye said he would recommend the eibach's and kyb's....post #12. So I think I will do it. I have eibachs on the car right now so I will just order the kyb's and install them. The site you posted above is the same site I looked at 2 nights ago. I think it's a good price too. cozye Posted March 9, 2012 Share #24 Posted March 9, 2012 I haven't used the kyb personally. I know guys with 240's in my local club that have them and like them, they commented on the nice ride. One has the eibach springs. I would suggest just doing the research to be sure. The only reason I could think of that it wouldn't be recommended was if the kyb had a shorter travel Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/topic/42503-suspension-is-next-future-planning/?page=2#findComment-383409 Share on other sites
