70" Console Choke Plate Button/Light? Identification

Recommended Posts

What goes in the cutout next to the defrost switch in a 1970 240Z choke plate? I have never seen a picture of a car that has that piece or where the owner hasn't created their own "blank" to fill the spot. Is it a light, a button, a switch...?

That's the correct blanking plug for the parking light(s) hole in the console plate. It would be twice as wide as the switch opening for the defroster glass switch. Early, early Zs like mine with no defroster had a blanking plug just like cbuczesk shows but half the width. The defroster switch came in two versions - lit and unlit. The earliest version, I understand, were unlit, black, with one white dot in the on position. The lit ones were green, I believe. I can't seem to find a picture of the parking light switches. Would love to see one. We discussed this ad-nauseum way back when during conversations about the optional fog lights and the fog light switch. If you want to search through the archives. Good stuff. I wonder if the wiring for the parking light circuit is already in the wiring harness.

Parking lamp switches operation image from the November 1969 'Z1' Service Shuho booklet for the Japanese market models:

Yeah. I'm pretty sure that's the switch setup I have somewhere. Maybe it's on my '69 Z? It's around here somewhere...

If anyone has a parking light blank for sale, PM me. Good information. Someone hacked at the wiring under the console, but following the leads back to the harness it looks like the car only had the defrost switch, and no parking light switches.

It is actually a chair leg bottom cover. If you could find one at furniture supply stores or hardware stores;), they might carry one.

If you look at the actual cover, it is not exact match, is too big for the opening.

I have few used ones but they are not in new condition.
