If you were to rebuild the engine, would you need to keep records of all the specific things done or parts that were replaced? I m considering what effect a rebuild might have on your Title, or how you would describe the vehicle.

What are the important things or new parts you would want to document, if any?

Would you begin keeping a new maintenance log from the time it was rebuilt, or just continue with the maintenance schedule from before? Should you say it has "1000 miles" on the engine, or just 1000 miles since the rebuild?

Would you consider the vehicle more new, or still consider it an antique?

Did I miss anything?

Record the manufacturer of the parts you added and their specs (size/weight/metallurgy/etc)

Record standard motor dimensions

Record and work done (balanced, bored, honed, new crank journal plugs, polished, glyptoled)

Don't change anything that affects smog/safety inspections.

I rebuilt my engine last winter.

I took 100's of pictures, specs of every pieces, bills from machine shop, every process used to clean parts, to paint parts, to shotblast parts, to plate parts, , every clearance I have checked by myself (piston/bore, ring gaps, crank bearing, piston/deck, etc.)

I believe the goal of such process is to demonstrate you did the rebuild with state of the art process.

In Europe, To guarantee proper car value for insurance in case of accident or thief, you need to have an insurance expert to check what you've done to your car. I did every in this perspective in a MS word file document (over 35 pages almost only for the bottom end).
