Here's a link to a Hemmings article about how car values have fared compared to stock market investments based on information in the Wall Street Journal. The 1971 240Z is one of the 50 cars tracked since 2004.

Interesting but that article really only points to nearly stock and good to great condition cars. We all know what a rust free 240z is worth, even if it has a 280z engine, 5spd, etc. As Jarvo just pointed out above, there are still examples out there at bargain basement prices.

BTW Jarvo, congrats on your purchase. What kind of resto work are you planning to do on your '72? Have you started a thread for it yet? What kind of NOS goodies did you get? You know we love pics!

If you have 30 minutes to kill, go on SearchTempest and search Datsun with "any" for the distance. The asking prices are going through the roof. Crappy daily drivers are advertised for more than a nearly pristine car went for just a few years ago. I was shocked.
