hls30.com Posted September 8, 2012 Share #1 Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) I was revisiting my JDM parts recently and happened across these hens teeth, and thought: "I ought to put all three of these in one picture as between the three I believe they cover all years the Fairlady 240Z(Early console and later fuse box cover mount ) and 260Z(the 1975-78 280Z was a USA thing, and the 280Z was what we on this side of the pond knew as the 280ZX). Hopefully some of you have more JDM parts to share in this thread. 260Z early240Z late 240Z The lose Tag goes on the ashtray cover on the late 240Z-not with the early 240Z as it is sitting. Headlight/Turnsignal Switches-I am not sure these are JDM because of the "Pass" embossed in the turnsignal switch, but they came from a Fairlady. HS30-H Posted September 8, 2012 Share #2 Posted September 8, 2012 ....as between the three I believe they cover all years the Fairlady 240Z(Early console and later fuse box cover mount ) and 260Z....'Fairlady 240Z' ( and Fairlady 240Z-L and Fairlady 240ZG ) debuted in late 1971, so - to be complete - you'd need to cover the 1969 to late 1971 and on Fairlady Z, Fairlady Z-L, Fairlady Z432 and Fairlady Z432-R too. Headlight/Turnsignal Switches-I am not sure these are JDM because of the "Pass" embossed in the turnsignal switch, but they came from a Fairlady. They are correct for a 'Fairlady', but they are most likely late 1973-on pieces ( therefore not Fairlady 240Z ) and from a 'Deluxe' spec car, as the 'Pass' button, sub loom and relay were an extra cost option on the base-model no-frills S30-S 'Fairlady Z' and the 'Pass' lettering was not seen until the L24-engined models had been dropped. The 'Pass' lettering was definitely on the S31 models right up until the debut of the S130-series in Japan. hls30.com Posted September 8, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) Thanks Alan, I only have a few JDM parts manuals, and intended to hunt down the part numbers/fitament today(see below), but I really appreciate your knowledge in keeping the Fairlady models straight. It hard to do with the few manuals I have. Mine start at '72 and go to '75, so I don't have an illustration of the earliest of the switches I have. Here are some crops from them pertinent to the the parking light switch-the headlight/turnsignal art did not make it clear that what was depicted was what i have-though they probably are. xs10shl Posted September 9, 2012 Share #4 Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) Just to echo Alan's comments, my early JDM cars with the flasher option do not have "Pass" written on the turn signal stalk. With respect to the parking light switches, I believe the center switch (with white dots) is the type I've seen most frequently on the early series 1 cars. The way those mount is the same for series 1 console panels I've seen, both with and without the "ON" label embossed on the console panel. I cant say about the other 2 sets, as their mounting brackets are different from what I've seen and used.Others may have more information than myself, this has just been my limited experience. hls30.com Posted September 9, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted September 9, 2012 The center switch(in the picture in the first post) is for the earliest cars, when the ashtray moved and the console changed the switch changed to the one on the right in '74 the one on the left came into play.
